Yeah, I really like craigslist. I got a table saw off it, a planer, lots of other tools. I use it to find yard sales.
My favorite, though, are those items/postings that show that for every fellow who's offering a decent two year old working mower for $50, there's somebody who is trying his hardest to totally rip someone off.
Once it was the used chainsaw that was offered for the same price as a new one at the store, but, the owner pointed out, "You won't have to drive to Home Depot to buy it!" Oh, so I don't have to drive to Home Depot, but I do have to drive to your house, so. . .
One guy offered a fully grown maple tree, high as a three story house, for $15,000. Of course, it would probably cost someone $20,000 to have the tree dug up, moved, and replanted, and a tree company probably wouldn't do it because the tree was about 8 feet from the side of the house, and very mature trees often are quite difficult to transplant, but here was this fellow asking away with a straight face.
My favorite, though, was a guy who had a dirt basement with only 4 1/2 feet of headroom. He wanted someone to come in and with a shovel dig it down so he'd have 6 1/2 feet of headroom. The pay he was offering for this filty, brutal, back-breaking task? Whoever did the work could keep the dirt.
Anybody else have any favorites? This phenomenon isn't just limited to craigslist--one time at a gun show I had a guy behind the counter try to sell me a box of mix and match 9mm, only about 40 cartridges instead of 50 and much of it super old and dirty and a mess, for $25. I pointed out that I could get a full box of Federal 9mm hollowpoints for $20. He then said he was offering a much better deal, because I could go through his box and could find the brand that shot best in my pistol.0 -

Craigslist is very addictive. I check it two or three times a day. I have gotten some unbeleivable deals there. 0 -
I'm not addicted, but I use Craig's list a lot. To both buy and sell. Best thing to come along since sliced bread. [:D] 0 -
Not addicted at all - BUT - I did find my best friend (and now boss) his
girlfriend on Craig's list - seems that she's a keeper - is on third camping
trip with her, in Yosemite Valley (until Sat.) - preceded by a two week trip
to the central highlands of Costa Rica and a two week camping trip to the
coastal Oregon beaches.

Im an absoulte craigslist addict, check it 5-12 times a day, a little hint for you guys, theres a lot of spam on my craigslist, if you highlight the ad, and theres other words, or little squigglies, its a fake ad, there just fishing for e-mail address'. 0 -
problem is that someone out there will pay the price. about a year ago i was shopping for choke tubes for my gun. new they were $50 each so i was willing to pay around 20 used. wel multiple times i was out bid and these morons were paying more than the new price which was direct from the manufacture.
some people just don't do their due deligence.0 -
