Theological Question
Why did there have to be pairs of ticks, chiggars, and mosquitos on the Ark? I think Noah should have done just a little thinking for himself.

yeah he did lol. I wonder how the little bugs didn't get caught in the pitch though..... seems like it woulda been difficult to keep em out of it.
What kind of pen did he hold the ants in??0 -
what does h8iry think? 0 -
Problem could have been solved if he let the Ardvark into the chigger and tic cage. 0 -
Personally, I've always had a problem with the story of Noah and the ark. I think it may have happened in a simpler way and on a much smaller scale. No doubt as testimony to God's might, but it's inconceivable for one poor man to build a vessel of that size, scout out and round up two of every creature on earth, get them on board a wooden ark and keep them separated, fed, alive and well for years beforehand. Even though it supposedly rained for only 40 days and nights, this project would have required decades to accomplish. IMHO, I think the story is more literary license than fact. Just my 2 cents. 0 -

You would think that Noah, or his wife, or one of the other 6 people aboard would have swatted those pesky skeeters the very first day. [:D] Seriuosly I assume its the whole food chain thing.0 -
I read a story on this subject once and the theory was that if this story were true it was in a time when the earth was only as big as far as a person could see, and was flat. They had no Idea of anything outside of their land as no one really traveled to explore. Being as it was a small part of the earth and relatively fewer animals being in a small region (if the story were true) one could by concept put the amount of animals within that region on a boat. I doubt there were lions and tigers, monkeys and elephants and such in that area. Maybe a few camels and dogs and donkeys. Many species of today were not around at that time and many species before that time had been extinct..Once upon a time in a land far away ETC ETC ETC 0 -
It did take him decades to accomplish and the water stayed on the earth a while after the flooding stopped. I would think that a bass boat would have been a lil more fun though.[8D][8D][8D] 0 -

I can't answer for the ticks and chiggers, but at least some of the mosquitoes are needed to pollinate some of the orchids....mind you, there's no telling how the orchids survived months of flooding.0 -
Allegorical.

Not allegorical or exaggerated at all IMHO.

HMMM???? Man outthinks God????? HMMM???? Interesting concept !!!!!!Isn't that how all the trouble started back in the garden in the first place which then ended up leading to the flood? I guess the really scary part is that man is still trying to do that today, and God promised fire not flood the next time.

How did Noah get ahold of a platypus and then how did the platypus die out everywhere except Australia?

Because we would have been worshiping Moses instead of God![}:)][;)]0 -
Many of the Old Testament stories are allegorical. The early Catholic church, which began decades after the death of the apostles and their immediate followers, did not know this. Because of Paul the Hebrews considered the Jewish sect of Christians as heretics and so would not talk to the Christians about religion. So the Church had to assume what was meant. The protestant fundamentalist movement was started by those who had no religious knowledge. Those men aquired a copy of the Bible, which before Gutenburg was illegal to have, and assumed the Bible was literal. Because the fundamentalist beliefs were so out of line with reality, they were spit upon, beat up, burned out, tarred and feather and then run out of town on a fence rail. So they came to America where they could be left alone to practice their incorrect assumption. And that is the Christian philosophy that founded the colonies. 0 -

He probably decided to leave the dinosaurs behind instead!!!0 -
The dinos were extinct about 86,000,000 years before Noah, give aor take a week or two, but some of them would made the canoe a little crowded all right. 0 -

What does Al Gore have to do with it? Did he invent the Ark too?0 -
Ants on the ARK where housed in a Flinstone style ant farm made of Bedrock.
YAB DABA DO !!!!0 -
Nevermind the ticks, chiggars [sic], and mosquitoes; a question of far greater importance and eternal significance is "What will YOU do with Jesus Christ?" 0 -
Very perceptive, Cricket. Al has been trying to conceal his involvement, in the interest of credibility.

I could add a few things to that list!!!0 -
Ants are no problem really, you just paint a fluon stripe around the top of the enclosure. Kinda of drys like teflon and their little Nikes just can't stick to it. In a pinch you can use vaseline, but they will build a road through it in about 2 days or a week depending upon how large the ants and the colony are.
Enclosing mosquitos takes really fine nylon mesh, which was probably a little hard to come by in those days.0
