erasing your C: drive and erasing the "zero sector" of your hard drive are 2 different things.

if it erases the C: drive, that would take some time to complete. immediately unplug your computer, and a data recovery service can get all the data that's still there, and probably most of what has been "deleted". it's still there unless zeros were written over it.

if it erases the "zero sector", otherwise known as the "engineering sector" of the hard drive, THAT is a problem. that would render the hard drive inoperable. it's not difficult at all to do and takes less than a second, I'm amazed that hasn't been included in a virus already.

if your "zero sector" has been erased, just so you know, you can still get your data back. send the hard drive to a data recovery service, they can take it apart, remove the discs and put them in a disc reader, because all the data is still there, it's just the hard drive won't work. it'll cost you but they can do it.
