    I was in Alaska, there were some air national guard troops there from the south east, he hooked a large pike, he was getting ready to lippin him, I had to stop hijm.

    It's African Tiger Fish (as cpermd noted) or Giant Piranha ...

    i bet that would have been an enlightening experience if you had let him lip hold that PIKE. I have seen it done, and with Walleye too....bad, bad, bad move.

    I cannot see the photo, but I can sort out some mythconceptions: Piranhas do not occur in Africa, they are exclusively South American (and now one lake in South Carolina). There are a number of species, none over about 12" in length. The tiger fish is Asian, and has an elongated mouth structure but no large teeth. There are fish called pacu http://www.aquahobby.com/gallery/e_pacu.php related to the piranhas, but largely vegetarian that can reach 3 feet and also have large teeth.

    That fish is called a Tigerfish in the SE quadrant of Africa, like I posted above.
    Called that by both the natives and the whites.
    They hunt in big schools there.
    Like everything else there, it gets eaten if caudght.
