Well, as Captain Plaid, I feel obligated to state my position. Yes, it is about as bad as when the writers of of Star Trek chose to kill Captain Kirk die by falling off a cliff. LAME!

Captains, especially superheros, deserve a death with dignity and greatness.

Kind of reminds me of a quote from Naked Gun.

Frank: No... you're right, Ed. A parachute not opening... that's a way to die. Getting caught in the gears of a combine... having your nuts bit off by a Laplander, that's the way I wanna go.

Getting your balls caught in the gears of a combine. Now that's the way to go!

Was the sniper a Sunni Iraqi insurgent? Maybe not so much a statement against the 2nd ammendment but against our war in Iraq. I quit reading comics in grade school.

Maybe they took a swipe at the 2nd and maybe they didn't.
I've never read a Captain America story so I don't know what sort of hero he was.
Maybe he was such a good and alert sort of person that sniping him from a distance was the only option the evil guy had?

If my paper yesterday was correct, this'll be the third time Captain America "died."

My guess is that this is merely a ploy to reinvent the character yet again and generate interest in the product line.

We need the Punisher to take out Uncle Ted and Aunt Nanci in his comic book. That would be great.[:D]

    bzzt! Wrong.

The new and reinvented Captain America will be a pregnant Mexican national who helps other illegals cross the border.

Yep, I think the new Captain America would. That way she can stay in the country legally.

My Favorite Comic as a kid was...

don't worry he made it outa there...

    merc12.jpg

Mark was happy, but his wife wasn't; she gave him an ultimatum, to choose between his life as a merc or their marriage.

After their divorce, Joan married a lawyer named Gordon, who had a strained relationship with Hazzard. Jealous, Gordon arranged for Hazzard to be sent on a mission in Iran, expecting him to die. Hazzard was rescued by his merc crew, and then investigated his betrayal. Tracking it back to Gordon, Hazzard strangled him but not before Gordon was able to inflict an ultimately fatal injury on Hazzard. Taken to a hospital, Hazzard was removed from life support at Scottie's request; Scottie believed his father would prefer it that way.

Colt, I gather that folks don't outgrow comic books these days like we old farts did.
