Imagine what they could do to that place (Mexico) is all the drywallers, landscapers, and brick layers started doing a massive government works project back home. They could have that place cleaned up in 2 months if they wanted to.

Hell, I'm booking my flight now. I want to go down there and open up some nursing homes for the old gringos and cash in on the cheap labor and food and lack of federal regulation.

While I'm there i might as well retire and get a room.

Sort of like the President of the Hair Club for Men!

I wonder when the cartels or corrupt police will start charging the retirement castles "protection" money. Or maybe they already are?

Hopefully none of the residents have rich relatives in the states as they would be prime kidnapping targets.

I guess this would be good for someone that is able to live simply with no worthwhile assets to be stolen.

I doubt it. If this is going to become a serious influx of money into the economy, the Mexican government will do what they did with the Hotel Zone in Cancun, and make it VERY secure. While I wouldn't want to retire to the "real" mexico, the new places that are being built and designated for foreigners are kept very safe, at least from the local criminal element. Mexico sees a potential cash cow in american retirees the way they got a cash cow in tourism on the Yucatan Peninsula and they will probably impose the same rule they impose those areas, NO ONE is allowed to mess with the foreigners, and give the area a bad reputation.

Why don't we just annex Mexico. We can call it Mexitexifornia. I bet the health care there is superior even to Cuba's.[:D]

    I'm in favor.

"If you can't beat 'em - make 'em join you!!"

    Canada, too.

Another fight with the Bloody British. We might be tougher than the Malvinas.
