Bidding question
If a seller has NO reserve, is he obligated to sell to highest bidder when auction ends?

Would anyone else like to have the option to choose between using auto-bid and "bid this amount now" ?

This may be a dumb question but? I had a bid on an item today at 1:32 pm for $325. The next bid was for $330 made at 1:12 am for $330. This bidder's last bid had been on 3/7/08 for around $100 and there were many bids by other bidders after that and before my last bid at 1:32 pm today. My question is that if he had put in a bid for $325 at 1:12 am on 3/7, why did it not show up until after my bid today at 1:32 pm. When ever I have put in a high max bid on an item early in the game this will kick in whenever anyone else makes a bid lower than my max bid until I am the winner or out bid. I do not unerstand how this high bid made early in the game does not kick in until the end of the auction. What am I missing here? 0 -
With regard to reserve auctions. If someone sets a reserve at 300.00
and someone places a first bid of 500.00 what will the current bid for the gun be at that point? 300 and reserve met with auto bid up to 500 or does it go directly to 500? Thanks ST0 -
The bid will be $500.00 with reserve met.
On second thought...I dunno...Good question.0 -
300 with reserve met. The 500 doesn't come into play till someone else bids it up. 0 -
I guess jbc is right. It is an auto bid thing... 0 -

I'm well past the second thought on this end.I wish there was an emoticon for scratching your head.
Let's go with JBC's view for awhile0 -
JBC is correct. 0 -
What am I missing? If someone bids $500 ... that IS the current bid,[:p] and the reserve is obviously met. Right? I thought auto-bid only comes into play when you place an auto-bid. On my last purchase I bid against myself ... OK, it was late ... and I wanted the gun! 0 -
No Andersk, if the opening bid is $20 and you are the first bidder, bidding $100, a bid of $20 will be entered and will only advance if there are additional bids. Same with the original posted question. JBC is indeed correct. BTDT,GTTS. 0
