...Shoot Feenix, I thought's they was "nappy headed ho's"...[:D]

...You know, I find this whole Imus thing the most, well, one of the most pathetic cases of PC run amuck Ive seen lately. I did not watch/listen to the guy...maybe 15 minutes total, ever, in bits and pcs.

..Of all the people to lead the charge, Not-So-Sharpton, and Jesse-Jacks-Humm is ridiculous; just about like big 'Al The-Prophet-Gore leading the rally against man made "global warming" hoax.

...In both cases it would be like Hitler heading up the Anti-Defamation League, heading up the Holocost Memorial...HYPOCRITICAL...[;)]

Look. Imus's apology was "too little too late."

Apparently, when Jackson apologized for his Hymietown remark, it was very timely and just the right size.

Apparently, when Sharpton apologized for the Tawana Brawley near-riot, it was very timely and just the right size.

FWIW, Imus is and always has been a schmuck. But these two thugs attacking Imus is nothing more than the pots calling the kettle black (pun intended).

It is nice to see many of the black community condemning Sharpton and Jackson for blowing this thing out of proportion. They are stiil saying Imus was wrong but because of the "Sambo twins" this thing has gotten way to much attention.

FWIW Imus was equal oportunity. He was not afraid to and did insult everyone regardless of race, color or creed.[B)]

Ya know, I've been alive only since 1968. It is becoming rather difficult to figure out what a certain culture wants to be called.

I knew when I was a kid that negro or colored or the n-word was wrong. But, there was nothing wrong with calling someone black. Then, black fell out of favor and I was supposed to refer to them as Afro-American. After a time, Afro-American fell out of favor and I'm supposed to refer to them as African-American despite the fact that many African-Americans cannot trace their lineage to anywhere in Africa.

Now, I see that African-American has fallen from favor and I'm supposed to use the term person of color. Does this mean that next in line, we'll be back to colored, or am I idiotic in thinking that way?

Meanwhile, I draw offense if I do not use the terminology d'jour. And, I'm still trying to get around the general sense of hypocrisy -- and no, I'm not talking about Imus's crap.

You've got people who desperately want to have racism ended, or so they claim. Yet, at every twist and turn, they're desperately trying to identify themselves and their culture as being "unique" along with every other hyphenated American.

Just wait until Hillary becomes President and these two become members of her Cabinet of chairmen of some powerful committees.[;)]

There are similarities between the Imus affair and Zumbo's mistake and subsequent firing....

When I was a kid, the terms "negro" and "colored" were OK. In the '60s in the Haight, the hippies called them "Spades" or "Spade Cats" or "Blacks" My Dad called them "Shines" or "Coons", and my sweet old Grandma called them "Darkies". She had a brother killed in the War of Northern Agression, while he was defending States Rights, and the Constitution.

During the times that were contemporary for them(us), those terms were perfectly acceptable across all racial lines. As I was growing up, the only people who used the word "N*gg*r" were the people themselves.

I am puzzled about why it's OK for them and not for us. I can't even spell it out on this forum, without fear of being called a racist.

These kinds of things make my poor ol' honky cracker head hurt.

Can anyone, of any color or pursuasion, explain this to me ??

Our Nation speaks of freedom of speech with great passion and fervor, defending it in textbook principle with the ferocity of a lion. But and unfortunately, when push comes to shove, pandering to the gods of greed, political correctness and self-righteousness summarily takes over.

Rather than stand up and be counted as defenders of this right, all the little lemmings first villify and then crucify - over and over again - those unfortunates who actually have the audacity to exercise that right, no matter how unpopular the topic, comment, remark or sentiment is. Defending the right to say "something" is not synonymous with approving, underwriting, agreeing with or condoning that "something".

As I said in anther post earlier on, all this hype and blather about forgiveness, contrition and redemption from the various pulpits and lecturns of life are simply pure and dirt-cheap talk, nothing else. Same apparently goes for real Freedom of Speech.

    Just my 2 cents.
