Better than a rock, worse than a lot of other calibers. I'd take the 32 Magnum over that any day.

The 22 WMR is an excellent round for self defense...or at least better than a 22LR. It is more reliable than a 22LR, and ask any qualified LE instructor...it will penetrate more layers of kevlar than any 32,.357, 38, 40, 45, 10MM, 44, or 12 gauge going. Question is how many perps are going to be wearing soft body armour? Another thing, is at 11 ounces, it is easy to carry...will not do any good sitting in a drawer if it is to heavy to carry.

I think this is a great gun for CC. However the jury may still be out on the 1 7/8" barrel. 22 mag needs a longer barrel length to reach proper acceleration for the increased energy ft lbs you desire. This was proved with the NAA 22 mag mini revolver in 1 1/8" barrel. The 1 5/8" barrel was OK but not up to expected performance of 22mag. S&W's 1 7/8" barrel may make the grade. I would be interested to know for myself. I would think they did enough research to find out before they released it. Anyone know? That gun is very pricey with dealer cost around $450, but less than 11oz. is remarkable.

The .22WMR is a real zinger, and I have a handgun that holds 30 rounds. Still, it is not my first, second, or third choice for carry, or bear.

He Dog - Send me that Grendel P30. I will move it up on my list so it doesn't feel left out. Kel-Tec purchased Grendel and might re-introduce that gun in P30 and P31.

Dave as I think I remember the story, at least some of the guys behind Grendel started Kel-tec, so it should have been an easy buy out. Problem with the Grendel is that it has gotten too valuable to shoot, and there are no spare parts available. I am told they tend to break firing pins. I would love to sell it and buy something far less ugly![:)] Last I saw, mags were going for $50+.
