Superbowl party on hold!
My superbowl party is set aside.
My dad is in the ICU at the hospital. He has a respiratory infection that set of a bronchial attack. They are fighting to keep him off a respirator right now pumping him full of various drugs.
I spent the afternoon there but had to bring the kids home. I'll be going back in the morning and spending the day there.
Good thoughts would be appreciated.

Temporary intubation isn't always a bad thing, especially since they are often given amnesiacs so as not to fight or even remember the experience. Do not confuse this with a tracheotomy.0 -

I have been having a hard time sleeping. I'll be calling the hospital in a little bit to see how he is doing.
I do know that they must not have put him on a resperator as my brother was going to call me if they did. So in that aspect no news is good news.0 -
...sorry to hear about your dad git'r. Prayers and thoughts, done deal. A respirator is a spooky thing but, most people come off of it just fine...as I am sure he will! Best to him and you...[;)]

Once, a wise Episcopal priest told me that when you're trying to sleep, just tell God that you'll take up the burden tomorrow, and trust Him to carry it for you while you sleep.0 -

UPDATE:
He is doing much better. They still have him on oxegen and he is still wheezing a bit, but the worst is over it looks like. They will probly move him out of ICU tomarrow and home by wensday.
He is going to have to seriously work at giving up the smokeing. The doc says that the smokeing did not trigger it, but it definatly didn't help it.
So all will be fine.
