    At least you get holidays.

My company is closed on Thanksgiving day and December 25th. Other than that, we get weekends off, and since I'm an executive, I don't really get weekends off if something important comes up or if travel is involved.

Saying that, it is a great company to work for.

I was likewise insulted in the Federal granting of that day to a Non-President. After much anger and thought, I came to the realization that I could refer to another person from history on that day: it is near Jefferson Davis' Birthday! So, on my timesheets, and log entries, that is what I used! Kinda like the Hats you see with the Stars and Bars on them, with the legend: You have your "X", This is mine!

As Far as Veterans' Day, My Union made sure that was an Overtime Holiday - I always offered to be off that day, but on those that I had to work, I took comfort that I was at least getting paid Travel Time, eight hours in lieu of the actual Holiday, plus Time and a half for the first eight, and plus double time and a half for work after eight hours.

I just love these companies that take all the wrong days to celebrate. Martin Luther King Jr. would not have been abl to speak if it was not for a veteran. There would be no presidents if it was not for veterans. We would not be able to celebrate Christmas if is was not for a veteran.

I refer to that Monday in January as "Civil Rights Day."
I exercise my 2nd Amendment Right to bear arms that day as I do all other days.

My company sent and email communication out yesterday, VETERANS DAY, which we do NOT get off, and informed us that starting next year, Martin Luther King's birthday is an official company holiday.

Our company is run by a prick!

    That's a load of BS! [:(!][:(!]
So you get a day off just because ONE guy got shoot and not for the MILLIONS of vets that have been killed and wounded. How sad and what a shame[V][V]

Our company doesn't give either day, but I would much rather have Veterans Day.

I think we should have a James Earl Ray day.

worked with a fellow that said he was at MLK's funeral and the preacher delivering the eulogy tapped his cigar knocking the ashes off and said ashes to ashes, dust to dust, if you'd kept your azz outta memphis and your mouth shut, you'd be up here with us

What's the problem? You get one more day off than you did before.
