Anyone notice ?

That nearly all gun manufactures have quit chambering their rifles in .222? I know the .223 is a step up from the .222 but its a good cartridge and should still have a place among all these new rifle chamberings. I happen to like the .222 myself. I have a Rem 700 BDL chambered for it and I use it often even though I have .223's, 22-250,.22 Hornet and .204 Ruger. My Dealer just told me that Remington had quit chambering it in their current production guns along with many others. He said you could find new Remingtons that were made previously, and I know CZ chambers it in their 527 Bolt action. I wanted to buy a H&R Handi Rifle chambered in .222 for my nephew, but they dont even chamber it. I guess Im old fashioned I like the older chamberings better than all these new magnum calibers. Especially the price of ammo.

    Would like to know what is going on with Remington. They also stopped producing their 700's in 6 mm a couple of years ago.

    Production follows the dollars. Gun makers are way past the time they could make calibers that sold in the handfuls.

    I agree the gun makers are way past there time, Try telling that to sportmans warhouse or cabelas, they have 10-25 people working the gun counters in these places. they are selling something by the handfuls.

    They are indeed, but they are selling the mainstream calibers along with WSM's and such, and not the fringe calibers however good. I was looking at a Taurus Raging Bee in .221 Bee. Looked great until I discovered the ammo is $65 a box. Did not buy. My favorite is .257 Roberts, but there are only one or two manufacturers making rifles in that caliber. If they don't sell in enough numbers to tool up, they increasingly are not being made. Can we get buy with .30-06 and .243 and .270 and .308 and 7mm? Sure we can, most of what is sold are those mainstream proven cartridges. Will it be as interesting and fun. Not for some of us. So yeah, lots of .357's and .45 LC and APC and 40's and .44 mags are selling and will do the job, but .38 Super and .44 Special and .41 are pretty interesting too and are all but gone.
