We tryed MidWay again.
5 of my friends and my self order from catalogs, we get together on our orders and split the shipping and HIGH handling costs, We order mostly from MidSouth, but yesterday I tried MidWay again, and again out of 20 Items they were out of 5 of them, So I canceled the order and went to MidSouth and got everything we wanted. Will try MidWay again in another 6 Mo's, Our order was over $600.00
Maybe MidWay has hired a bunch of Bean Counters to show them how to go out of business, I have been ordering from them for over 25 years, they started this out of stuff about 3 years ago.

They probably are cutting costs by reducing inventory and doing the just in time game. Although they don't seem to be getting there inventory quick enough to cover their orders. Not a good sign for their survivial. This constant backorder game really angers buyers and they will go elsewhere to get what they need.

So, you don't think it might have something to do with all the bad weather around the Holidays that stranded truckdrivers and their loads for up to 4 days at a stretch? Twice? 0 -
I found that Midway raised prices on many items by 20% on January first. My last order went to MidSOUTH.

Midway also acts like a group of Nazi's FORCING you to open an account, remember paswords deal with a crappy web design for dial up accounts and then bury you with crap you don't want in the box YOU ARE PAYING FREIGHT ON.

I've notice many of their items have a "30 day availability" notice or some thing like that. What struck me most was that you could order those same items direct from the manufacturer and probably get them within days so why mess with Midway. 0 -
I try to do business with grafs or wideners first, midway second, and midsouth last- their website isn't as easy to navigate. 0 -

The way all of these companies operate, you really have to look at their online sites. With Midway, you can see what they have in stock. This is also true of Wideners and Grafs. I buy from all three. I picked up a used Colt 1911 frame at a gunshow on saturday that is cut for a ramped barrel. On Sunday, I looked at Midway to see what they had in stock. I found a barrel in stock and ordered it. I just checked their website which tells me it was shipped today and the shipping along with a recoil spring was $3.18 USPS. I also checked their catalog from last spring and the price of the barrel was still the same. 0 -
I read this post andwent to look at Midsouth. What I see is a lot of itens marked as "on order".
My last order to Midway was placed on a Tue. morning and I had what I wanted in the mailbox Fri.
Gees folks if you dont like some place then do do order from them, seems simple to me.
I did find a thing or two I will try from Midsouth, but to be honest 3 of the things I wanted are "on order".0 -
I prefer Graf's of the gerneral suppliers. anymore about the only purchases I make are primers, powders & bullets/shot; unless it's a substantial amount, the HAZMAT fee eliminated the cost factor, making the local store a better deal. 0 -
I use Midway exclusively, don't like Grafs, never tried MidSouth.
I've placed 24 orders from Midway in the last year, totaling over $2800. Never waited over 3 days for the order, most were here in 2 days, and most orders were shipped out the same day I ordered. Hard to go elsewhere when I've had perfect service. Of course I order online and I don't order backordered products. I also find their site the easiest to navigate. Maybe I'm just lucky, but I'll continue to use them until they let me down. I did, however, notice the increase in some of their products cost starting Jan. 1st. Compared a couple products prices to some other sites prices and Midway was still cheaper/the same for me even after the increase.

I have had good service from all of them. But, you need to do your homework.
Out of all of them, Cabela's has the fastest website. Midway & Natchezss is probably the worst of the bunch...in terms of speed of website.0 -

Midway SUCKS! I used to deal with them a lot when they had free shipping. When they started charging for shipping they had this crap about trying to make it fair for everyone because some people were abusing the free shipping policy (how one abuses free shipping I'm not sure, but they had it all nicely explained in a couple of letters and several catalogs which I have long since thrown away)so they were going to institute a policy of "fair and honest" shipping. What the hell?? Was the option "unfair and dishonest" shipping. I fully understand that shipping is a huge factor in business, whether it is on the shipping end or the receiving end. I worked in the shipping department of one of the larger electronics companys for a couple of years so I know what is involved as far as personnel and material. If they would have just come out and said, "folks, free shipping is killing us so from now on we are going to have to charge for the shipping" I would probably still be dealing with them. Shipping charges are a fact of life. To try to lay the blame on a few customers, I felt, was as lame as any excuse I had ever heard. Now, as many of you have stated in various ways at different times, I'm not real smart, but I felt that particular incident insulted even my minimal intelligence. Brownell's, Lock, Stock and Barrel at Valentine, NE, and Wideners's pretty well cover it for me. I used to buy a lot from Natchez but just don't anymore for no particular reason. 0 -
Brownell's has not let me down. Midway irritates me as well, but I have felt no need to vow, "never again." 0
