Scope Thoughts...
Ok folks, as you know I got my Marlin Model 39A. For those of you who have one, did you scope it or keep it clean? I like the lines without one, but I like a low power scope for squirrels and rabbits.

I don't have a 39, but I would keep it unscoped. I just don't like the look of a lever-gun with a scope. 0 -

My Golden 39A Mountie has no scope and is doing fine without it! I agree ... lever guns probably do best without scopes. Who would need a scope for tree rats? You're not going to be shooting all that far away, right? 0 -
Unless already jacked up to accept one, keep it clean. 0 -

10/22s are for scoping if you need a scope....[:)][:)]

I have an older model Olin made Weaver 2x7 rimfire model 7/8" tube on my 39m and I believe it goes with the gun well. If your'e gonna hunt with it and the ol' eyes aren't what they used to be, I say go for it. Just don't hang a monstrosity on it. A 1-5x with 20mm objective or Weaver/Nikon rimfire model with a 28-32mm obj. will work just fine.
If your eyes are still good, a Williams or Lyman peep site will be a very good addy.

What Scorvers said.
The best levers are minus scopes..they just balance perfectly as is.
The peep next..then scope it if you must. Shoot close and leave the long range work for a 10/22 or some such...just enjoy the 'ell out of that Marlin.0 -

I don't like scopes on lever actions. They just look wrong to me. 0 -
I must admit I don't much care what anyone thinks a scope does or does not belong on. My old eyes simply do not work well with iron sights any more, so my 39 and my 336 wear scopes, and not cheap ones either. 0
