Don't skip to the ending ... you'll be surprised when you get there!

    WHO I AM?

    * I was born in one country, raised in another. My father was born in
another country. I was not his only child. He fathered several children
    with numerous women.

    * I became very close to my mother, as my father showed no interest in
me. My mother died at an early age from cancer.

    * Later in life, questions arose over my real name.

    * My birth records were sketchy and no one was able to produce a
    legitimate, reliable birth certificate.

    * I grew up practicing one faith but converted to Christianity, as it
was widely accepted in my country, but I practiced non-traditional
beliefs & didn't follow Christianity, except in the public eye under
    scrutiny.

    * I worked and lived among lower-class people as a young adult,
disguising myself as someone who really cared about them.

    * That was before I decided it was time to get serious about my life and
I embarked on a new career.

    * I wrote a book about my struggles growing up. It was clear to those
who read my memoirs that I had difficulties accepting that my father
    abandoned me as a child.

    * I became active in local politics in my 30's then with help behind the
scenes, I literally burst onto the scene as a candidate for national
office in my 40s. They said I had a golden tongue and could talk anyone
into anything. That reinforced my conceit.

    * I had a virtually non-existent resume, little work history, and no
experience in leading a single organization. Yet, I was a powerful
speaker and citizens were drawn to me as though I was a magnet and they
    were small roofing tacks.

    * I drew incredibly large crowds during my public appearances. This
    bolstered my ego.

    * At first, my political campaign focused on my country's foreign
policy. I was very critical of my country in the last war and seized
every opportunity to bash my country.

    * The issues that launched my rise to national prominence were my views
on the country's economy. I pretended to have a fool proof plan on how
we could do better and every poor person would be fed & housed for free.

    * I knew which group was responsible for getting us into this mess. It
was the free market, banks & corporations. I decided to start making
citizens hate them and if they were envious of others who did well, the
    plan was working well.

    * I called mine "A People's Campaign" and that sounded good to all
    people.

    * I was the surprise candidate because I emerged from outside the
traditional path of politics & was able to gain widespread popular
    support.

    * I knew that, if I merely offered the people 'hope', together we could
change our country and the world.

    * So, I started to make my speeches sound like they were on behalf of
the downtrodden, poor, ignorant to include "persecuted minorities" like
the Jews. My true views were not widely known & I needed to keep them
unknown, until after I became my nation's leader.

    * I had to carefully guard reality, as anybody could have easily found
out what I really believed, if they had simply read my writings and
examined those people I associated with.

    * I'm glad they didn't. Then I became the most powerful man in the
world. It was only then that the world learned the truth..

    * Who am I?

    I am ADOLF HITLER.

    Subject: Who Am I?

I Wrote a Book About My Struggles

I was born in one country, raised in another.

My father was born in another country.

I was not his only child.

He fathered several children with numerous women.

I became very close to my mother, as my father showed no interest in me.

My mother died at an early age from cancer.

Although my father deserted me and my mother raised me, I later wrote a book idolizing my father not my mother.

Later in life, questions arose over my real name.

    My birth records were sketchy.

No one was able to produce a legitimate, reliable birth certificate.

I grew up practicing one faith but converted to Christianity, as it was widely accepted in my new country, but I practiced non-traditional beliefs and didn't follow Christianity, except in the public eye under scrutiny.

It was the free market, banks and corporations.

I decided to start making citizens hate them and, if they became envious of others who did well, the plan was clinched tight.

I called mine "A People's Campaign." That sounded good to all people.

I was the surprise candidate because I emerged from outside the traditional path of politics and was able to gain widespread popular support.

    Who am I really?

I'm the little redneck looking for wire, or another piece of duck tape to hold my boots together another day. I'm the little redneck, that scopes out every tire shop around, looking for used tires that might get my old '66 Ford flatbed a few more miles down the road. I'm the guy in the store, counting my money, and end up buying food for my dog, instead of myself. The guy hawkeyeing the dump. For pieces of lumber that I can use to work on my home. The guy that scrounges three used air conditioners, and puts them into one, for my pregnant wife. The guy that replaces a mile of fence, for the used posts, to make flower beds around a junk ass trailer house.

I'm the guy looking through the rags, because the discarded pants there were better than what I was wearing. The guy that fed on rabbits and wild onions for quite some time. The guy that shaved with a straight razor and soap, because he couldn't afford the modern stuff. The guy who took showers outdoors, with a solar bag that he considered a luxury. The same guy who took cold showers all winter, because his water heater went out, and he couldn't afford to replace it. His dogs never went hungry, neither did his horse. But he did. My horse, dogs, and guns never went without care. I did, though.

That's me. Every word true. Now, I own a nice house. Hot water, plenty of food, fat dog. Some consider me respectable. Great wife. Nice truck. New tires. I spend my days punching numbers into little machines.

I'd trade it all in a heart beat, for the way things were before. Keeping my wife and fat dog, of course.

You want for things your whole life. At first, you want for the basics of life, and later, you just want the simplicity of life. Seems that you always desire that which you do not posses.

Reckon that's just how the mop flops.

Ask not for whom the mop flops, it flops for you.

I am going to post a series of quotes to see how many of you know-it-all's, know anything!
If you think you know, post JUST the initials. I'll let you know if you are right or not. I'll add at least one quote a day 'til someone comes up with the right answer

"Wars have never hurt anybody except the people who die"[?]

Let's start with some easy ones (well, easy for those who have been around here a while) -

    1) My "brother" came on GB to post that I had been shot and killed. He even sent an article (from a non-existent newspaper!) to back up his story.

    2) I once posed as "Seth K. Perumoney". My ruse didn't last long.

    3) "Dang! Patooie!" This one will only be easy for the REAL old-timers.

The supermonkey did join the army as did Bullzeye. The monkey posted a few times after basic, as did Bullz when he got home. The monkey was funny. Bullz was not. Festus was funny. Eric Williams was not.

    A couple more -

    A) I brew up a tasty little concoction known as "Bob's Best". (Perfect for washing down pearl onions and olives with vertically aligned pimientos.)

    B) I was the very first person to ever post on this forum.
(Let's see which of the old-timers here have a really good memory!)

    C) I once claimed to have felled a 6" diameter tree with 2 shots from my 7.62x54 Mosin-Nagant M44. (And, boy howdy, did I ever get a lot of grief over THAT post!)

    280. your bringing back a flood of memories since I even got to imbibe in some of Bob's Best. And if I recall, the Mosin shooter nailed his own roto-tiller on New Years Eve.

Bob in St. Louis brewed the Bob's Best from stump water. The other "ingredients" were butt hair dreadlocks and were delivered by the mother ship if I remember right.
