This is simplistic B.S. as it has been since its introduction. If you have any muscle mass, you suddenly are considered obese.

At 6', I can be at 138 lbs and considered normal. Conversely, at 200 lbs I am considered overweight.

Pay no mind to these type "averages". They may apply to starving Ethiopians, malnourished 3rd worlders, or American super-models and heroin junkies. Most anyone who is in decent shape and strength trains, will be considered obese by this general standard.

If muscle weighs more than fat, A body builder could easily be in the obese range. A better gage is the body fat index.

Not that I am fit, but your body fat is a better tracking of your fitness.[:)]
I wanted to add a fat smilie, but it isn't an option among the smilies[:D]

Bigtire I'm a 29.7 as well (6-1 and 225 lbs). I was naturally outraged to see that the site was also available in the Spanish language!

Well, it's the same with this - as with those "Height-weight"-tables...

I'm about 9 feet too short.

Happy Nanoq, I noticed that, you can't even look in second floor windows. College must have been a drag, all those dorm you couldn't peek into...

    Rcrx is considered "overweight"...
    6 foot, 208 lbs.
    44 in. chest
    33 waist
    38 hips
    16.25 neck

I think I can contest to the opposite....

I think some people here would rather hear your dimensions over his.

Darn, I have one foot in the grave then. I went to see a doctor at Kaiser for Eczema and she took one look at my chart and said have you considered gastric bypass. This was the first time I had ever seen this doctor (it was a same day appt.)
I know my BMI is high since it matches my age (43) but I am also losing the weight at my current post. (Last post was a construction site in a bad neighborhood, sat in a car 12 hours a night after dark watching the site. Ate a lot of snack in the car and drank a lot of soda to stay awake. Now I am in an office building and walking all over along with taking stairs in a Kevlar vest with a 6 inch colt strapped to my hip. Yesterday I was able to run up 3 flights of stairs) I have lost 5 pounds since seeing the doctor through diet and excercise. I just wonder how much a level IIIA vest weighs.

The easiest way for a man to tell if he is overweight is by his pants size. If your waist measurment is bigger than the length on your pants, you are probably over weight.

I am 27.3, but BMI is not accurate if you lift weights and have more muscle than others at your height. I am overweight, at only 8% body fat. Get a skinfold test done for better results.

Well, I'm at 29 right now but I was at 36 five months ago. According to the tables I will have to lose another 27 pounds to be classifed as normal body weight. I couldn't possibly lose 27 pounds without amputatins a leg or something--I'm almost out of fat now![:D]

I partially disagree to that. my waist and leg measurement is the same, 34 inches. However, I have to buy 36 waist so my huge freaking legs fit with room to move. They called me calves during tech school at Sheppard.
