What would you recomend
I'm considering sometime in the near future picking up a new rifle, I'm not sure exactly what I want, all I know is I want something that has some kick to it, is reliable, easy to clean, and doesn't go past $300 typically, any suggestions?

A NEF Handi-Rifle in .30-06 ought to kick pretty good and still be cheap and easy to clean. 0 -
Hmm thats an interesting rifle, looks like my 12ga, lol, bet it would kick, but I dont think its the one

Going with Nunns suggestion, but I'll mention that NEF and H&R both make their single shots in 45-70, 500 S&W and other "big thumpers"
Or perhaps a nice single shot 10 gauge?0 -
308 kicks but not like a mule 0 -
Nah, not interested in a shotgun, already gots myself a nice single shot 12ga from my dad thats tons of fun to shoot, I'm looking for something that will be fairly accurate out to at least 100 yards, I was thinking of an AK, but money is a bit tight... well its really tight, lol 0 -
You are really limiting choices to the budget that has been stated, but here are a few that might work:

yeah, I know... well I'm really bored at the moment anyway, so I think I'll head down to the nearest gun shop and take a look around 0 -

lol.... You could redo the 12 days of Christmas with that, On the third day of Christmas my true love gave to me.... THREE.... MOSIN..... NAGANTS!!!!....
meh, lol, well I looked around the shop near here, I'm either gonna go with an SKS or an AK47 [|)], just want something I can have some fun with.. they did have one nagant, but its a M1944, I want the original one, cant think of the year, but the longest ones they made, but I'm haveing a hard time finding them.0 -
I'd go with the AK. Mine is easily my favorite shooter as far as long guns go. The kick is there, but not substancial, although the 7.62x39 will do plenty of damage to whatever it hits. And it's had to find the AK's equal in terms of semi-auto rifle reliablity. You can punish the hell out of it and it keeps comng back for more.
If you do get one, I'd suggest buying a recoil buffer, and a spare recoil spring. The recoil spring seems to be the only thing that ever goes bad on them, and al reports I've read say the buffer will greatly extend the service life of the rifle.0 -
I might go with the AK, but money is really tight and they want 399.88 for it, they only want 228.88 for the SKS 0 -

get a copy of the latest shotgun news, or check here you can find one for under $300. If you are just interested in a fun shooter I think you'll be happier with the AK over the SKS. I've owner both, and in terms of fun to shoot I personally thought the AK was far superior. The ease of reloading in the AK makes a big difference, IMO. Of course there are SKS out there that take AK mags also, but they usually go for a premium.0
