Fuel Injector questions.

I have a 4.3L V6 with TBI (Throttle Body Injection) which is basically two injectors acting similar to a carburetor. Each Injector feeds one half of the engine, at least i'm pretty sure of this.

This engine has 140000 miles and runs good.

What benefit could I get from installing rebuilt to spec injectors? I can buy them for roughly $70 each and get $35 each for core charge. So for $70 and my own labor have "new" injectors. Without having the equipment to see if my injectors are out of spec, would this be a good buy?

    If it ain't broke, don't fix it. If your mileage is fine, I'd leave them be.

    If not, $70 is not a bad start to getting better mileage back.

    Your biggest gain by replacing the injectors will be gas mileage. Reason being sometimes when they get older or began to wear, or even if you get a bad batch of gas the injectors may began to "gum up" causing the engine to run a little rougher and work a little harder. In turn it will use more fuel. However, if it is running good then I would say there is no point to replacing them. Just my opinion though.

    It runs good, but milage is poor. Roughly 10-12mpg, but I drive with my foot to the carpet and with three sizes larger tires than stock. Only 235/75R15 for a 4x4, but it came with 205/75R15 stock with 3.08 gears.

    If I go on the interstate and drive 70+ I can get almost 20mpg. But I need to drive close to two hours to get on the interstate. [V]

    Drive the two hours, and then stay on the Interstate.

    I rebuilt mine several years ago(the entire TB).I was surprised at how much differance it made.Do the whole thing youll be happy[;)]

    You did not mention the age of your vehicle but since TBI was last used in around 1995 it must be at least 7 years old. Throttle Body Injection (TBI) is a very simple and straight forward type of fuel injection but it is subject to wear and should be inspected to be sure that it remains in spec. The most common problems are throttle plate shafts beginning to wear out, fuel pressure regulators developing leakage, and the injectors themselves being plugged. Changing the injectors will help if they are the lone problem area but while you are doing that you might as well have a look at the other components.

    Go to your local Menard's and go to the automotive section and buy a can of Sea Foam ( around $5) and put it in the gas tank, and it will clean the injectors to like new. Also put it in your lawn mower, chain saw, weedwacker, etc. This stuff is truly a miracle product!

    I've worked on cars for years, and have never seen this stuff until this year, and it's unbelievable!
    Try it, you have nothing to lose, other than the $5 or so.

    Mango is right! My neighbor gave me a can of seafoam a few years ago and the stuff is like magic. It's all I buy now!

    You better check. The core charge is plus the $70. That will make them $105 each. You will get the core charge back after you return them.

    Been using this company for the last two times I needed parts. So far they are great, fast shipping and correct parts. Everytime I shop at NAPA or VIP etc I get the wrong part and can't tell until I get the old part off in my dooryard.[:(]
