If you don't know, DON'T ANSWER!

The reason is raw material prices have gone crazy......steel, brass, lead, and copper are at all time highs.

It was going up way before the arses took over.
    Components are going way up.
One reason is China and India buying so many of what is becoming more costly metals
The US Gov even had to pass a law forbidding the melting down of coins because they are worth more for the metal than their face value.
Then there are the UN deals to surpress sales of milsurp ammo.
Wolf had a 10% increase Jan 1, 07 and another 10% takes effect next month. More will likely follow
I have brought this up many times and most simply think it is hype to scare us to buy more ammo and there is nothing really going on.
I am stocking up now and will be shooting when they are applying for a loan to buy a box of ammo!!!

You don't think maybe the war could be a part of the reason?

I seems we went thru this a few years back
then it was primmers there was supposed to be shortage.
everybody was buying them up which upped the price
I dont think there was ever a shortage.

I think that's why the price of the materials is so high.

Certainly the price of raw materials has risen, but that's not all. When gas prices were the highest last year, I'd tell customers they weren't buying bullets; they were buying diesel. (in more ways than one)

as raw metal isnt being found. the demand is outweighing the supply. price increases. what IS available commands a premium.

The one factor the war created was when we detroyed all the Iraqi ammo and then decided to rearm the Iraqis and bought 75 million rounds of 7.62X39 from the Russkies.
That caused a lack of supply and a mild panic for that round.
But, it has been more the escalating material cost, shipping cost and UN as well as local pressure.
Believe it is hype if that makes you feel better.
Ammo will be cheap again just like gas.

so what's the point??? Lead is up, copper is up 400%, gasoline is up, LP is up. The US dollar is weak against the Canadian dollar, the Euro, the Pound... that's why our prices in a global economy are up.
