Track a criminal / friend

Anyone know how to find someone in the federal penitentiary system? I have a friend that made a real bad choice and got in five years of trouble. I think he is in federal prison. I would like to communicate with him. Is there some sort of central directory of inmates? thanks, Rusty

    i just went to that site and it didnt even list Vick as a federal inmate. it also didnt even list some other high profile inmates either. doesnt seem too accurate

    That's correct, they do not list high publicity inmates locations, but that information can be obtained through freedom of information requests.

    Vick is not exactly a federal inmate.
    He is being currently held in a county prison, as best I can determine, until the Feds send him to a Federal Prison Camp.
    Try Vick again in a month and I bet he will pop up.

    A large portion of federal inmates spend their entire sentence in county jail. Federal Prisons are over crowded, and so the federal gov't pays counties to hold their fed prisoners.
