Salt River Canyon
This is between Globe and Show Low Az. It's about 8-81/2 miles rim to rim. The Bridge in the pic is the border between two Apache Indian Reservations.

Whenever I travel that road to the White Mountains to fish or hunt, I stop in that same turnout. I can't help myself. I've been doing that since I was in diapers. Well, give or take a year or two. [:)][:)]

That road is a real kick on a motorcycle, less fun in a car/truck. Seems I am always behind a 60 foot RV going 12 miles per hour. Easy to get around and on down the road on a bike. Pretty dramatic scenery all right. Used to stop at Fort Apache just North of there, where they had a museum, with some really nice Indian and Calvary artifacts. Unfortunately it burned several years ago, and not much was saved. 0 -

He Dog, yeah, I can see that being a blast on a bike. Had a rice rocket blow by me almost at the top.

Nice pics, and it is definately pretty country up there.
I would not suggest you try that road with a grown-up truck though. It can be done, but it ain't a whole lotta fun, especially for the cars coming the other way on the hair-pin turns! [:D] It tends to make em pucker real bad when they see the grill coming at em in their lane! [:0]0 -
I drove through there on my way to Phoenix in late July. An eye catching trip. Can't say much for the drive beginning just outside of Globe to Phoenix. Not very eye catching. 0
