Nunn- Do you know any details?
Irving police officer Andrew Esparza, 26, died after his patrol car slid off a rain-slick highway and hit a light pole Friday night, police said Saturday. He was later pronounced dead at Parkland Memorial Hospital in Dallas.
Long story short- he was going to be a best man at one of our friends son's wedding in TX that is also an officer.

I know about as much as you do; what I saw on the news. He wrecked on the way to a call. A bad thing. 0 -

Esparza's accident occurred just after a bad storm system with very heavy rain, hail and multiple tornado touchdowns/sightings had passed through the area.
I heard that just a few minutes after he'd been dispatched to assist another officer on a vehicle accident they received a 911 cal1 from a motorist advising of a wrecked patrol car on the side of the road with an injured/unresponsive officer inside. There were no witnesses, but there was a lot of standing water on all area roads and it's suspected that he hydroplaned. After leaving the roadway the driver's side of the car impacted the concrete base of a light pole.0 -
My brother is an Irving Firefighter, as is my nephew. I talked to him saturday and he talked about this. He said there were no witnesses and when he was reached he had to be extricated. 15+ minutes so they couldn't revive him.
Sad deal. I understand his brother is also a police officer. My brother said he was a very nice young man, well liked and their entire FD and PD is saddened. My condolences to the families.0
