Why is my daycare $1850/month??
Why is my daycare $1850/month? I'll tell you why, because over 1/2 the people there get most of their daycare subsidized by the state. I'd like to find out just what that percentage is.
So because of that, the daycares are flooded with people and the rates go up, of course because I am not destitute, I get no subsidy. Just the oh-so-lame $5k/year flexible spending deduction which surprisingly makes little difference on my $22200/year daycare bill.
So this viscious-cycle of government benefits once again kill the middle-class.

Day care at $1800+/month.
Oh my God!
I'm in my mid 50's and I took
on two+ jobs when the kids were little
to allow my wife to stay home
with the girls but today
is a different world from then
We had one car, was renting for $155
bought a house (fix-er-upper)and the mortgage
was $137, times have really changed and I'm
getting out of this rat race in a few years
before there's no room left on the highways.
Good luck all!

Why is my wife a stay at home mom?
++++++++++++1
Why would I want someone else to raise my kids....
If you do not live in an "uber-expensive" area like the DC Metro area, you cannot possibly understand this issue.
Bull. Move. You are the one that sets the priorities... don't blame the local real estate market. If it was important for you to have your children raised with the values you and your wife hold dear you would find a way to do it.0
