15 acre building,4,000 tables, thousands of guns, many expensive guns (one for $40,000), thousands of buyers. In two very tiring days, I did not see every gun. It was a very good show!

I'm going to the show next month and my buddy going with me wants to sell or trade a gun up there. We live in Texas, the show is obviously in Ok, what's the deal with transporting for sale, person to person, no FFL etc.

Can you guys in OK tell me what the rules are regarding this type of sales/trade with out of state guns??

I know we have reciprocity with OK on right to carry so we'll be packin but just wondering what the rules are on SALES across state lines??

thanks for the help and/or tell me where I can find this info out??

was it me or did it seem that every gun there was about 2-3 hundred dollars above what it should have been?

Heavily attended...choked isles for nearly the entire two days. Many, many MANY people with a rifle over their shoulders...or 5 or 6 on a buggy. One dealer told me..after buying two Single Actions in a gunslinger rig...'Scary cheap"...

Ammo being marked down as the days wore on. Taurus Judges starting at 500 bucks..429 by Sunday afternoon. Aks down to 400 bucks...and dealers begging for that.

As an old guy, I wandered about...still marveling at the high cost of ammo and weapons.

I bought a Brescia .22 for 50 bucks...just to say I bought something. And to prove that there ain't no fool like an old fool...

The Grand National Gun & Knife show is this weekend in Tulsa. It is a large show around 2500 tables (Not the great big show it's in April)
Now who on the board is going to go?

Wear very comfortable shoes. You will have a lot of walking to do. I calculated that the aisles are about 8 miles in length if they were stacked end to end.

Boomerang is right! The first time I attended that show I had on cowboy boots, jeans and a long sleeved shirt, because it was fall and cool. One guy in line had on shorts, sneakers and a tee shirt. I thought "what's the matter with that fool?" Before the day was out, I knew who was the "fool." [:o)]

Anyway, I'm going to be there. Probably in shorts, sneakers and a tee shirt.

I decided that this year I'm not going to spend any money, I'm just going for the good company and conversation. Yeah, right.

For all you other guys, bring lots of money. You're going to see things you can't go home without.[:D]

Matwor, You going to be there?

We're planning to leave Thursday morning for the 11-hour drive from south-central Minnesota. Another guy and I go with a retired dealer who has three tables, so we get to do some early (Friday) shopping after we get set up. For those going for the first time, heed what others have already said -- loose clothes and comfortable shoes. Also, don't plan to get into a restroom in a big hurry. The lines are long early in the morning. For some reason, the building has only about half a dozen restrooms under 11 acres of roof.

Wundudnee always gets all the best stuff, buys it before you even see it, so if you are not going to be there Friday you might as well stay home. Or, you could go to his car at lunch and offer him a nice markup for finding the good stuff for you.

I believe I read that if you walk by ever table during the show you will have 11 seconds for shopping at each one. If you are staying Sunday, toward the end of the day hit the tables on the West end furtherest from the loading area. They are likely to be dealing to avoid carrying it all out.

The meeting spot is usually the Accu-Shot table.

Sorry to miss you all this time, I am saving my nickels for another trip to Australia.

Thanks for all the info, but I go to Tulsa twice a year for this show. Yes, sneakers are a must! Hopefully I will bump into a few of you guys. I will have a nice Sako if anyone is in the market for one. Hopefully I won't be carrying it long!
    Good luck

There is a strong possibility that I will be going Sat., what day are you planning on wundudnee?

  • 24fan
I'll be there sat. and sun.
    From Wanenmacher's web site
    Something to think about:
If all our tables (2800 8ft. and 1200 6ft.) were placed end to end they would stretch 5.6 miles!

If you spend the whole 18 hours we are open to the public and divide that by 4,000 tables, You will have 16.2 seconds to look at each table.

IN ONE ENORMOUS 11 ACRE AIRCONDITIONED AND HEATED ROOM!
    EXPO CENTER-EXPO SQUARE (TULSA FAIRGROUNDS)

I'll be departing Central MO @ 3:00pm(should take 1hr) in my private jet with 3 buddies and several bottles of good whisky. Already went to the bank and withdrew $26,000 for some spending money. Plan on flying back on Sun afternoon.

Hope to see some of you there.

Sounds like your time will be well spent! I missed the Oct 2006 show because I was stuck helping a friend sail his 48' steel cutter from San Diego to Panama.... Blue skies, Blue water, and mostly gentle breezes.... Come to think about it, didn't really miss the show!!!
