Anyone shot one? Pretty nasty recoil? I'm thinking about getting a Glock 20 10mm. Any feedback would be appreciated. 0 -
Today is the day I fired off the carry ammo for my S&W1006. Cleaned it and charged the mags with fresh ammo. Shot up some cans out back and saw a bone the dog had lost interest in, you know one of those real big femur bones from a cow, about 24" long and weighs about 15 pounds. A 185 gr hollow points will splinter a 6 inch section of it, a 200 gr FMJ will do the same. Very impressive damage! I know a 10mm ain't a death ray but it sure splinters bone with great authority! 0 -
I was just wondering what your opinions were for a good carry ammo for a 10mm. I did my research for my .40s, and all I carry defensively in those are 155 gr. hydra-shoks and gold dots. 155 seems to be the most effective/best weight-velocity combo. What type of ammo (fed. Hydras, etc), and what weight are optimum? More specifically out of a short barrel. What are your thoughts?

Ive got a kimber tle II in 45, is it possible to change the barrel

they gave me all the info I need to convert.

I would say Colt or S&W. I used to own a S&W 1006 and it was a pretty good gun. I don't have any experience with the Colt Delta Elite but it is basically a 1911 that has been beefed up. 0 -

Hard to beat the Glock 20.
I have a EAA Witness 10mm, and is an excellent pistol for the price. I would not, however, claim it was the best.
The Kimber 10mm is a pretty nice piece, as well.
I had a 1006, and was not happy with it at all. And Colt Delta Elites, while nice, command too much of a premium for the pony rollmark, imho.0 -
I would say Smith & Wesson or Glock. Your choices are limited anyway because not to many make them. Take a look at the EAA Witness Hunter. As for the Delta Elite I heard they were soft and couldnt stand up to the 10mm for long. I would go for a S&W 1006 or 1076 above the rest though followed by the Glock 20 or 29. I fired somebody's Glock 29 at the range once and it had some Silvertips in it that sounded like a 30/30 going off but the recoil wasnt all that harsh. 0 -
i shot the 10mm glock, when i was about 15-16, very crisp, the recoil was very manageable. After a couple shots i even got it on target! lol. i was hitting a pumpkin about 20-25 feet away. 0 -

Shot a couple of mags through my brother-in-laws G20 and the felt recoil was no more that my G22 and just as accurate. Personally, I would go with the Delta Elite, they're just cooler. 0 -
The Colt hands down. I own two. Very controllable and deadly accurate. Glocks have jammed on occasion and one has kaboomed at our range. Smith 1006 is a nice choice. Plan to own a Witness one day. I love this caliber for a handgun. 0 -
Current production, I would go with the G20. I have one and love it! If I had some extra cash right now, I'd go with a Colt Delta, Gold Cup, or a Springfield Omega 6". 0 -

No one mentioned the Bren Ten, the original 10mm pistol. Hard to find, but, by all accounts, a fine piece. I agree on the Colt tho. Just dont see me owning a plastic gun. 0 -
Only EAA and Glock make a production 10mm. They both work very well. The S&W 1076 was what the FBI used to carry it is also a very fine weapon but no longer in production. There are some limited production runs done in the 1911A1 design. These are also for the most part good 10mm hand guns. What ever 10mm you pick it will be a good one. Needless to say I like the 10mm alot. my 2 cents [8D] 0 -

Right now it is Kimber that makes the BEST 10MM on the market. It is on the 1911 platform.
Glock makes the model 20 full sized, and the 29 compact, of which I have both. I love them, and shoot only the Winchester Silvertips thru them. They both have Lasermax internal laser sights, and Alessi leather.
S&W made a number of 10MM's...the 1006, 1086, 1076(FBI gun), and the 610(revolver). Sometimes one can find on gun broker an NIB, or ANIB 610, or 1006. The FBI did not use the 1076 that much, and they become available from time to time at very reasonable prices.
EAA has the witness series, which is based on the CZ75...the 45, and 10MM are an slightly enlarged version. I have heard nothing bad about them, and what few articles I have seen in the gun rags were good. I have yet to shoot one, but would like to.
Keep in mind that there are numerous loadings for the 10MM. The FBI reduced load mimmicks the 40 S&W. The full house loading of a 10MM, like the afore mentioned Winchester Silvertips, are verey close(if not equal to the lower end) to a 41 Magnum
Also, the Dan Wesson line by CZ also lists a 10MM auto. I have not heard much about this line, and they are bases as is the Kimber, on the 1911.0 -

The 10mm is a VERY flat shooting cartridge. You can by factory loads approaching 357 mag performance, note, NOT 357sig, 357 MAGNUM. An extremely versitile round.
You can get right at 750 FPE out of it, thats HOT/POTENT from a 5" barrel!. ANY 10mm on the Market like the Kimber Eclipse, Eaa is going to cost you as much or more than the Colt DE, and wont hold it's value like the DE, buy a nice DE.
Dont pay attention to all the BS about slide cracking and such that is out there....a lot of urban ledgend crap. The people that claim the DE wont hold up, tend to forget (and probably never owned one, kinda like the BS a Colt wont shoot great out of the box w/o changing out a lot of parts,BS) the damn gun was built around the 10mm round...and no, you dont need shock buffs, there just a bunch of hooey.

Just a few corrections to make here
1) any 357 magnum load(in a handgun) will come no where near the performance of the original full house 10MM. The 10MM is comparable to the 41 Magnum.
2) The EAA, Glock, or Kimber 10MM's will cost no where as much as any Delta Elite, or Delta Gold Cup period...as was said...Colts only increase in value.
3) There most surley was frame cracking going on with the Delta's. After about the first 600 rounds thru mine, which was one of the first ones, it had a crack, and the frame was replaced by the factory. Another friend of mine had one from the same batch(we bought them together), and his cracked 200 rounds later. Frame cracking from high slide velocity IS NOT BS. The recoil buffer has to be replaced every 500 rounds for the gun to function without peening, and cracking the frame.
4) The FBI did not buy Delta Elites for their dept. guns. they bought Smith and Wesson 1076's. Which can withstand more abuse than the frail Delta's ever could.
I have no prejudice against the Colt 1911, or the DE, as I have 2 Delta Gold Cups that I cherish. Just stating the plain and simple facts.0 -

Price a Kimber Eclipse 10mm, you can buy a NICE DE for same or less.
EAA's I concede.

...Another simple fact, a shock buff is NOT needed to shoot semi-hot loads, or even hot loads in the DE's made late 87 on until end of production in 97. Colt recogonized and fixed this problem w/the "notch cut", late in 87. How in the hell did we EVER get along w/o shok-buffs?
...SOME of the first production DE's (first yr production 87) had to have a simple notch cut in the slide that ELIMINATED the rare "crack" problem from then on out. If you own a very early DE, Colt at no cost to you, will glady cut this notch at no charge...
Mine is a first year production, with the notch.
