Idle Threat??
I get my internet through Dish Network but it is basically Wildblue.
They have a FAP, Fair Access Policy that limits the amount of internet I can view over a 30 day rolling period. 7500MB.
I exceeded that limit (thanks youtube) and got the warning email then the email stating that my speed would be cut in half until I straightened up.
This was several days ago, still over the limit, checked my speed on a seperate site and found that I am still at the normal speed.
Was this all an idle threat?

It takes time for the paperwork to go through.

30 day limits???
I would get a different internet service in a heartbeat.0 -
I would love to but it isn't really an option.
I can install a phone line and get half-speed 56k where I live or this Internet connection.
The satellite connection is about 500k download 50k upload for $50 a month. It would be about $50 a month to get a phone line and dial-up at 25k up and download.
There are no other options out here in the boonies. [:(]0 -
As much as I hated it I had Direcway. I was in a position like you.
On mine you could only down load about 128mb straight then it would slow down. If you let it sit for about half an hour you would be back up to speed. Cost is about the same as the wild blue.0 -
When I was at the uni I had a 500mb up and 1GB down limit a DAY! [:D] I got two emails each year stating that I was above the limit. 3rd offense they shut you down for a little bit. [}:)] 0 -
