my middle name is Blair, the same as my fathers, i carry his middle and last name, and also the II and not JR. but my first name comes from my greatgrandfather, who's first name is also my dads first name, my dad didnt want me named after him, so i wasnt, i was named after my great grandfather.... can you follow all that?[:D] 0 -

I'm sort of surprised at how many have a family surname on the mother's side as their middle name (as do I, Reese & my son, Bradford, giving my father, son & me the same first and last names without any juniors or 3rds).
As a point of information (I'm pretty sure I'm right on this, but correct me if someone knows otherwise), the "junior", II, III, IV, etc. suffix should not be a part of the proper name at all, but just used to differentiate between living members of the family with the same name. When granddad dies, John Smith jr. should become plain ol' John Smith & his son ,III would then be jr.
