For mailing guns. Seller is having a hard time in California getting me my gun. I sent him this and ask him to copy it. Get the name of the postal employee or ask them to write it down they WILL NOT mail the long gun. 11.3 and 11.4 is the answer. I don't even want an opinion what they think !

In California all firearms transactions must be conducted between FFL's ... state law prohibits individuals from shipping firearms.

He needs to take it to an FFL and have him ship it to your FFL.

Kimberkid , California is FUBAR. I will call the seller this morning and tell him. He is in some suburb of los angeles. He said you can't even buy ammo there. What kind of place is that?

I checked GB list of FFL dealers around Los Angeles. I will suggest he take it to one. I have $3535.00 in the sellers hands and want my gun.

USPS states it can only ship guns from FFL to FFL - FFL's must use form 1508 and state you are FFL shipping to FFL. FedEx will be best route - Good Luck.

Bologna, Pistols FFL-FFL, but not long guns. I have mailed a few long guns and do not have my FFL. Written certification what is in the mailing box, and a copy of the FFL showing where the gun is going.

bwaaahahahaha!!! now that's a joke.

anyways... there's 2 different parts to your problem:

1. state or federal laws regarding who can ship to whom

2. "can the USPS ship such an item"

see? those are 2 different issues. the USPS CAN ship them, so now you have to get #1 going.

California might have the FFL to FFL law, but the USPS doesn't.

The problem is, most USPS employees don't know their own regs. A few months ago they refused to send a damaged rifle back to Taurus for me, so I looked up the USPS rules, the 1968 rules, and the state rules, printed them, and wrote a cover letter to my local postmaster, sent him the whole mess, and three days later, received a letter of apology from him and an invitation to bring my gun back for shipping, which I did, and it was shipped.

I still have copies of everything if anyone needs it, but it's easy enough to look it up on the web for yourself.

I just called the seller. He is checking into it today. If I don't have the gun mailed ASAP I will go to the Post Office here and stop payment on the Postal Money orders. He can sell it elsewhere. I will wait the 60 days to get my money from the USPS.

In KA, it is FFL to FFL...the state is stronger than the Federal Government in California.

It will cost him at least $100 to get this done.

Love this crap.
Damm state regs are BS.

IHMO You should be able to ship longarms yourself, and handguns go ffl to ffl.

UPS,USPS,FedEx and others should be forced to carry as any other commidty.

And "PAY" the damm claims, when insured, without their BS denials and then after 2 or 3 appeals..a partial low ball settlement on the courthouse steps.

Oh yeah limit ffl transfer fee to $25-$50max.

I know, I know, that is dictating what a small business owners ability to make $.

I belive its a fair amount.

But then again there are the weird states with FOID's etc..
Agggh.

In Florida an individual can MAIL USPO a long gun with only a copy of the FFL where it is going. No big deal. about 17.00 anywhere in the USA. I have sent several to Va. and a couple to Texas with no problems..CA laws seem to suck..

WRONG,,,,,anyone can mail a long gun,,,you must have a FFL to mail a handgun,,,,I have mailed several over the years,,,,I have even mailed them to myself when I was going out of state hunting.....
