SHOP SMITH QUESTIONS

I see alot of SHOP SMITHS for sale.Are they any good ?---They look like they are designed for people that don't have alot of room for alot of different tools. Which ones are better made,the newer ones or older ones ?
I see SS has made different models over the years.The MK5 seem to be very popular.

  They are very good if you only have limited space!!!
  My neighbor has one and he has turned out some very impressive projects!!1

  I have an older shop smith that is very good. I have not used it as a lathe much but when I have my other drill press set up for mortise, it is a really good press. I don't need the saw attachments but could see where it would come in handy for those with limited space. I also use it for a shaper/sander and buffer. I do have some maple burl that I need to turn into a bowl, but too cold in the shop right now. My first priority on Christmas holiday is putting in a woodstove so I can work in the winter.
