quote:Twenty-four years later, Reagan was still pushing gun control. "I support the Brady Bill," he said in a March 28, 1991 speech, "and I urge the Congress to enact it without further delay."

How could he NOT support that bill???? Brady was shot trying to protect Pres Reagan.

    rogue_rob,

Brady was indeed shot, but did the American people a a whole shoot him? This ain't Julius Caesar - we each didn't take a stab (or in this case, a shot) at the man.

Why we were collectively punished for it in the form of various bans is beyond me.[xx(][:(!]

Of course this is looking at who signed the bills not who put forth the effort at preparing the bills and running them through congress. Check the facts 95% are slam dunked by Democrats. But then they like to point the finger at the other side to "deflect" the facts. Thats what they do.

Congress was controled by the Democrates most of the time in the past and have a history of introducing anti-gun bills. Schumer, Latinberg, Finestine, Boxer, and many others. Check out the NRA website and look at where most of the bills came from and the primary sponsers.

Others get blackmailed into signing the bills to get their own legislation passed.

I agree with you, the question was meant to be rhetorical. What kind of ass would he look like by telling the widow of one of his boys that died (or became a vegetable) protecting him to go piss up a rope?

I'm not saying I AGREE with the Brady bill, just saying that it would have been hard for him NOT to support it considering the circumstances.

GOP presidents could have vetoed these measures, but did they?

What's that quote again? All that evil needs to flourish is for good men to do nothing?

Seems the GOp aren't even good, or men, but willing and cowardly accomplices to the strip mining of our 2nd Amendment rights.[:(!][V]

Here are some other related issues that I have current facts on.
Showing how the Democrats support our desires.

But, what they don't say is what else might have been tied to these bills that could have influenced the vote.

    Shocking Senatorial Votes
"Never argue with an idiot; they'll drag you down to their level and beat

Gee: Count the D's and the R's and then argue your position. I can do the same thing for all the gun bills and they would show the same thing trend.

Most Democrats anti-gun most republics pro-gun. Look it up if you want to know the truth. Its amazing how many will deny the truth!

Like I said what a president signs or doesn't sign has very little to do with who authored it or pushed it through Congress. A president may have to sign a bill to get some of his stuff through a hostile congress.
