    We saw it while we were out in San Diego over Christmas. Since our daughter is an RN she was really interested in the exhibit. However, it is an interesting exhibit for anyone!

    Saw this in Tampa about a year ago. It just opened up in Sarasota and we plan on going to see it again.

    I really liked the one posed at the writing desk. They had the spine splayed open and you could see all the nerves radiating out of the spinal cord. Amazing!

    I saw it in Miami earlier this year. Now it's in Ft. Lauderdale.
    My kids and I enjoyed it. I highly recommend it.

    Apparently, there is no shortage of "bodies".

    Dang Zip you and me have something in common.

    I had a job at a mortuary when i was growing up also.

    What job did you have[?], I was one of the late night body getters.

    It was a little creepy at first, but after a while all the bodies laying around don't bother you at all[:0]

    Never realy did get used to the car recks though[xx(]

    I lived in one. Still stop in and speak to the owner and family a few times a year. My long time buddy and I were roomies there for about two years ... while we were undergrad students at Berkeley. Free room and $100 a month and I had to be there from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM - every other night - to answer the phones, show folks to the viewings (if there were any cases on tap) and occasionally a substitute 'body snatcher' if everyone was busy, including the subs, then I'd grab a friend and we'd do a pick up.

    I found it fascinating - back in those days, when the city morgue (which was small compared to todays big new giant one) was full, the coroner would send his assistants out to do posts. They'd always enjoy the company, so the entertainment down in the embalming room was always pretty interesting, when I had the time. I considered going into medicine at one point, and my first wife (who I was dating then) did become an RN - still working as an ICU/CCU head nurse, still loving it.

    ... it also provided me some really great stories and more adventuresome gals always enjoyed a midnight tour ... and, of course, there were always lots of free flowers!

    That was a nice way to end my first, of four lives.

    LOL, I can relate to that.

    I had a girl friend once who wanted to see were i worked.

    It was late at night, but i had a key to the back door of the mortuary( incase i got called to pick up a body).

    I brought here inside the room were we store the bodies and had her stand right in the middle of the room( it was pitch black, so she couldn't see anything). I turned the light on and she screamed so loud that i thought all the cops in town would come rushing in any minute[:D]

    Needless to say, that was the last time we dated[B)][B)][B)]

    Best 'mort' story ...

    OK ... picture this ... not too many details ... BUT ... picture a five lined $25K casket (even complete with box springs) ... sitting way up high in the display room ... year after year with no buyers ... roomie and I decide to have a contest after a vodka party night ... we decided to have a Casket Club ... the intercom in the room was next to the casket way up high ... to be a member one had to ... uh ... you know ... in the casket with ... uh ... a fair haired lady love ... each 'kill' had to be 'confirmed' with the other guy at the intercom upstairs in our apartment.

    We kept a felt board next to the com with little black coffin shaped pieces of felt to 'keep score.' Once the boss/owner asked us what was up ... and of course we said it was for a game we were playing. (true)

    After 30 days I lost - not revealing the final score ... but ... it was pretty disappointing (for me) - Joe got a dinner at the Mark Hopkins, At The Top of The Mark.

    Zip got zip - and paid for the two dinners - over $100 1966 dollars!

    Epilogue: Joe went up on a monthly dusting tour and saw the inside of the satin lined casket. There was a problem or two there. While we were sweatin' it ... the following week some guy took a header off the Golden Gate - used car salesman - and all of his buddies bought him the most expensive funeral 50 guys could afford!

    We stuck with that guy the second he came in - after coolin' we did the coat rip and dressed him - as a favor, of course - as we arranged some of the flowers to cover parts of the 'offending satin' - followed the guy out to the cemetery to make sure there weren't any 'problems' and watched him all the way into the grave!

    We were able to get a good night's sleep after more than a month of sweatin' bullets!

    Man, IF that box could talk ... anyway he's still in it ... hurdling on through eternity in the 'Box of Love!'!

    ... those were the DAYS!
