Veteran's Day `07 - Nov 10
This year the Club will celebrate the 20th anniversary
of the "Purple Heart Shoot" now
known as the "Veteran's Day Shoot" with an open
house and luncheon.
Saturday, November 10th is only a few days
away when the Club will be open to Veterans and
the general public at 9:00 AM. As is customary,
the Colors will be presented at 10:00 AM. For the
past several years the A.S.C. Honor Guard has
presented the Colors in the best military tradition.
In recent years the R.O.T.C. Cadets from Northern
Illinois University have provided the firing
detail for the 21 gun salute. Static displays and
maybe a surprise or two will round out the day.
Lunch will be provided for Veterans and Volunteers
and will be available for a modest donation
for family and other visitors.
Since its' inception as the Purple Heart Shoot
20 years ago we have provided Veterans an opportunity
to shoot the firearms of the various
battles of the 20th century. In recent years we
have added firearms of the 18th and 19th centuries.
This year will not differ in most respects.
Donations of ammunition are still
needed and would be deeply appreciated.
This may very well be the last time we celebrate
this event at our current facility. With some
effort and generosity we can put on a memorable
event.

I would love to bring my pop to that gathering!! I know he'd find it more than fun, but since we're 1255 mi. away, i don't think we'll be in attendance.
I hope you will capture and post as many photographs as possible. My father was an Army/Air force mech./Flight Tech. During the China Burma India campaign, and went-on to work for the Naval Jet Air Propulsion Labs in Dover,Trenton, and Philadelphia, and retired in the spring of 1980. David J Munts. He is still a "LIFE MEMBER" of VFW. A.T. Colista Post 5579, in Gibbstown NJ.
I hope y'all have the best turn-out ever, and surely wish we could be there...

I prefer to call Veteran's Day "Armistice Day" because that's what it is. Just as I call the 4th of July Independence Day. I don't get off either. [V] 0
