Santa Claus offensive?

I just heard on our local news out of DesMoines, and I wish I caught which mall, but some mall is requiring their Santa to laugh saying HA..HA..HA..!, instead of HO..HO..HO..! Reason: They are afraid of offending some women.

Santas in Australia's largest city have been told not to use Father Christmas's traditional "ho ho ho" greeting because it may be offensive to women, it was reported Thursday.

Sydney's Santa Clauses have instead been instructed to say "ha ha ha" instead, the Daily Telegraph reported.

One disgruntled Santa told the newspaper a recruitment firm warned him not to use "ho ho ho" because it could frighten children and was too close to "ho", a US slang term for prostitute.

"Gimme a break," said Julie Gale, who runs the campaign against sexualising children called Kids Free 2B Kids.

"We are talking about little kids who do not understand that "ho, ho, ho" has any other connotation and nor should they," she told the Telegraph.

"Leave Santa alone."

A local spokesman for the US-based Westaff recruitment firm said it was "misleading" to say the company had banned Santa's traditional greeting and it was being left up to the discretion of the individual Santa himself.

Is there ever a end to this bullsheeit?

    This freaking offends the ever livin' crap out of me.
    Santa is second only to Jesus in the Christmas tradition...
    Taking Ho! Ho! Ho! from Santa Claus is as wrong as taking Christ out of Christmas.
    I will not spend one red cent in any business that has this policy!!!!

    It shouldn't be offensive to women who aren't `ho ho hos'.

    I think there must be some kind of contest going on to see who can come up with the most ridiculous oatmeal. Everybody is trying to out oatmeal the oatmealers.

    Thanks JamesRK! I am a traditionalist and when I put on my Santa outfit, that Ho,Ho,Ho goes with it. I would never change, in fact I've always thought about Santa taking up smoking a pipe again. I can remember the smell of those blended tabacco's that Santa use to smoke, and to me nothing smell more like Christmas, than pine or cedar Christmas tree and pipe smoke. What a rebel?, But I hate PC crap.

    One day very soon, a person will not be able to say anything without offending someone....

    I can see all of us (hopefully some of us wont be alive when it happens) running around attached to a censor of sorts to correct all politically incorrect language so we dont offend anyone...

    Simple solution: Santa copywrites HO HO HO. Then no one else can use it without permission. They will have to quit calling Ho's, Ho's. Besides Santa was using it LOOOONG before it became a slang term.
