Ever had one of those weekends - - - - -
So I'm out doing my local cruizing of shops even though Mrs.Blue has already told me we are tight this week (mortgage due and other stuff). On shop has a nice Stainless Single Six .22 mag for $175 - been looking for one of those a while to fir Her holster..
Another shop has a drop dead gorgeous Remington model 30 Express in 25-06 - I mean no blue loss, bright bore, beautiful wood and hand cut checkering. I want this rifle!!! I ask how much (thinking at least $400.00) - she tells me she has not priced it yet and she will call by monday and let me know. I asked how much she wanted down and she said to wait until she set a price but she would hold it for me.
Go to another shop - he has (get this) a Browning 425 sporting clays 20ga in excellent condition for $1000.00 and on top of that he has a s/w model 60-9 stainless .357 (I have one but wanted one for Mrs. Blue)for $325.00. He says he will put them both on my account and throw in a 3x9 leupold in free thats sitting there with out the 25-06 I want. I asked if he has looked at my account lately (over a grand for the last year - up and down depending on the month and this would put me over the 2 grand mark - which is way over what I want to owe on credit). My neighbor shows up about this time , and being the a-hole that he can be (in a fun way) he starts telling me to get both and I'll regret it later if I don't.. All the while he is eyeballing the Smith and getting a feel for it. He and I both have been going into this shop religeously for about 13 years. I put the Smith on my account and buy a harmonica for the other neighbors B-Day. Then the other shop calls me and she tells me the rifle is $375.00 with the scope and $350.00 without - I tell her I want it and will be in tomorrow and put $50.00 down to hold it. So now I gotta sell something.
I call a buddy who wanted my 20ga wingmaster for his boy and he says he aint got the $200.00 this week (sh_t)...
So I start doing every honey-do on my list last night and this morning and then try to convince her that I need the $50.00 - this rifle is too sweet to pass on. She is so happy with all the weeding and fixing and stuff - she says to go ahead - YEAH!!!!!
So on my way over there I see and a yard a Toyota 4x4 beater truck that has all the running gear that I've been looking for two years now - to go under my 51 willys truck - $900.00 complete running package (don't care about the body just wand axles and drive train).
Dang why is it some weekends you stumble across just what you have been looking for for years and the money is tight!!!!!!!!!!

Sorry for your lack of luck, especially today!
The phrase "Day late and a dollar short" has strikes me from time to time too [:(]0 -
When the money is tight one should not go shopping [:D] 0 -
I just hope you're aware the 30s has been rechanbered/rebarreled... but for $375 what-the-hell. 0 -
What about that lucky 7/7/7 date thing? Maybe that will help. 0 -
Most likely rechambered from 25 rem. Could have been rebarreled and reblued - but what the hell!! 0
