was my blood pressure today when I went to the doc's. nurse's thought i should be @ the ER and not the doctors.[:0]
Luckily I have symptoms when me BP is boiling. 33% of all American have high BP only 1/3 of those have symptoms. The rest of them could die silently of heart attacks and strokes's..

[8D]--You may also have the "White Coat" syndrome--
--You have to take YOUR OWN BLOOD PRESSURE at home, for a couple of weeks, one early morning and one late afternoon, each day--
--then show that to the DOC !!!

[;)] I wish it where that easy. I've been doing that for 6 months now and they are using the data to adjust my medication. the weather was been warmer latel and i noticed the medication not working as well on Friday and buy the time i got into see the good Doc she was boiling.0 -
everytime i get my BP checked the results are dramatically different. my doc says it is because of nerves. 0 -
Seriously, I'm surprised you didn't actually hear or feel your blood pressure inside of your head. Generally, a person can perceive their own heartbeat inside their head when their blood pressure goes out of whack like that. Hope you get it back down and feel better soon.[^] 0 -
Oh i felt it the first time it got all out a whack in Oct 06 thought someone had shot me in the head. since it's been under control until Sunday and i felt like i was motion sick all day and Monday by 5 i had a headache and the pills weren't doing anything to lower it. So i made a stop by the docs and good thing thought i was dying. 0 -
Yep...You probably should have gone to the ER. If you'd been in my ambulance, I'd have given you at least one spray of Nitro and see if it helped. Hope you get to feeling better!!! 0 -
I thought you were in your 20's? I may have been mistaken.
How old are you?
I agree with Kev, a dose of nitro to say the least.
How'd your head feel?0 -
I went in for a complete physical (I mean complete) about three months ago and all they could find was a BP of 147/85. The General Prac wanted me to go on pills. I told him I didn't consider that being high. He said it was borderline hypertension and I better curb it now. So my daughter's friend is taking Benecar, the doctor asked me if I had a preference, so I chose that. Six weeks later it was down to 134/77. The doctor was pleased. He said he had some pictures of kidneys that had been beaten to h___ and back from excessively high blood pressure. Pictures taken posthumously. I didn't want to look at them. Hypertension medicine can cost from a few dollars a month to over a hundred a month, and they all do the same thing. 0 -
I've been taking Benicar for two years now. It took six months to get used to the light-headedness every time I stood up. Now, my b/p stays around 124/70. Can't complain about that. 0 -

I will be 30 in November.
In October of last yr is when i started having the symptom's of high BP. Then i had what they call a "thunder clap" head ache sent me to the ground. I went right to the ER and they put me right in the CT machine and did a little blood work to determine if i had had a Stroke all came back negative for stroke. they gave me some pills to lower my bp and for the headache and sent me to My General Prac. the next day and i have been taking "HYZAAR" 50/12.5 to start. worked ok for the last 4 1/2 months.Sunday I started to get motion sick no headache just didn't feel good. so i went back and now take same stuff only 100/12.5 dosage. Had a CBC done this morning will get those results back and go from there.
My old man has had high bp his whole life been on meds now for 15 yrs i think. He's also seen the neurologist and he found some ump-teen micro stroke that he has had over the last 30 some yrs.0 -
Slider - The advantage of Benecar is that you just take one a day. I took mine at bedtime so if I had any reaction I didn't know it.
The disadvantage of Benecar is the price. One month supply of this runs over a hundred dollars. I complained, and my doctor put me on a new one where you take two a day. Price is twenty something a month.
I liked the Benecar better, but you can't pay that amount and have any money left over to buy guns.0 -
Mine was gettin' high enough to cause a bit of concern.
Started takin' a garlic pill or two each day and now it's still a little high, but acceptable.[;)]

[8D]-Yo Oda-In ref to my previous comment--
--I'm allmost 65 and my "whitecoat syndrome" usually caused a BP of 150/95 when I would be in the Hospital for anything minor So--
--My Doc "convinced" be to start taking HYDROCHLOROTHIAZIDE (water pill) 25 MG/day--so I take 1/2 pill per day and my normal BP in the afternoon is 125/72--
--No side effects and the cost ts $5.00 every 3 months (KAISER)--
--My Doc told me that in 9 out of 10 high BP persons-it can't really be cured just controlled--
--So mine is controlled, you might check with your Doc and mention the above Medicine for consideration--good luck-

This Hyzaar stuff has 12.5mg of Hydrochlorothiazide along with 100mg of losartan potassium.0 -
With my insurance, Benicar was costing me $45 per month. Found out that if my doctor wrote the prescription where I could get three months at a time, the price dropped to $25 per month. 0
