Does your name come from the Savage Model 170? If so, I have been trying to find out how to get the wood forearm slide off and have been not successful on getting any info. Bought one of these that was not stored well so it really needs some lovin to get it back to a respectable condition. Any help?? Thanks.[:)]

Remove all the parts from the front of the magazine tube. Held in place by a screw. COnsists of plastic piece, spring, and a "T" shaped piece of metal. After thats off, pull the magazine out the front. On the front of the fore end wood there is a "nut". round. with a slot across it. If the proper wrence isn't available, a flat piece of metel will do. Put the flat piece of metal in the slot across the nut and turn counter-clockwise to remove it. When nut is off, slide the wood off the fore end metal. I assumed you did not want to remove the complete for end from the receiver. 0
