Is It Illegal ??
Okay, California doesnt allow people to own some "assualt rifles" that say Montana allows people to own. However, my question is this.....can someone in California posses the dissassembled parts of one of those guns ?

because i have realized that law enforcement in california has NO CLUE what the gun laws are. in fact, a good friend of mine is a police officer in los angeles and he told me they receive NO TRAINING on specific firearm laws except these basics #1- barrel length #2 - fully automatic # 3 - magazine capacity0 -

My guess is a parts kit does not contain a receiver. The ATF would not recognize it as a firearm, so why would Kalifornia?0 -
The frame or receiver (the part with the serial number) is considered to be the firearm all by itself. So, as far as I know you can have the barrel, the stock, the bolt and springs, but not the receiver.
Or any magazines over 10 rounds.
I see lots of postings on various forums by folks trying to figure out a way around the CA AWB. The only two ways I know of are change the laws (fat chance) or move to another state that still recognizes the Second Amendment (which is what I did in 1992).0 -

I would say that if you had all the parts of a CA banned gun that the authborities around these parts would likely snag you anyway and claim you had "intent" to manufacture (and likely possess, sell, distribute to gangbangers, use in a felony, etc.) a banned firearm.0 -

-I happen to have a lot of firearms and the ability to legally shoot in 6/10 places within 30 minutes time -true I have a restriction on some of the weapon types that I can legally PURCHASE--
--The rest of this state has a myriad of pluses and beautiful montains/lakes/off-road (legal) areas and I have used them all of my life, to great enjoyment--
-I am not Jim Zumbo and I'm afraid most of you just ran off like a redheaded stepchild because of the ridiculous statement he made on his BLOG, now Im afraid WE'VE lost a great gunowner and his pen-there's no forgiveness here--
