Flags still half staff....?

Why are alot of flags still being flown half staff? I have no idea what the rules are on when to fly half staff.

  I believe when a President dies the flags are to fly half mast for one month

  pabooger is right. Well, it's 30 days, but that's almost a month.

  Another answer: You put them down when the President says, and bring them back up when the period of mourning is over.
  
  At least they bothered to put them down at all. When the Pope died, the college my fiance was going to refused to lower it, citing separation of church and state. Apparently a Presidential order on the subject (echoed by the VFW, who actually has a say in this particular area, believe it or not) wasn't good enough.
  
  I got a wee bit sauced one night that weekend and to make a long story short, the flag ended up at half staff, with the hawser coated in Crazy Glue and wrapped in about 10 feet of duct tape to discourage them from messing with it.

  The presidential decree was to fly at half mast from 12-26 until 1-25. Typically, period is 30 days for presidential death.

  Do they also fly at 1/2 staff for a deceased president??

  I see, at my college, I kept seeing them at half-mast and didn't know why until now.

  At sundown on the 25th they go back to full staff (that is if your flag is flown 24/7 like mine that is well lit by a street light). Other wise starting the 26th you go back to full mast.

  So how did the flag get raised back to full staff before being taken down? Seems you not only compounded the problem of no respect for the flag, IMHO, but you cost the school additional funds in replacing the halyard.
