WINDY DAY DEER HUNTING...

My Uncle FLOYD used to go deer hunting on the windiest of days. And he did real good.Somehow he could sneek along and see them laying around on the ground..I went with him a few times but never got one.He would almost allways get one when he went alone.
Have any of you ever hears-of,or tried this?

    As long as the wind direction is consistent I love hunting on very windy days. It works great on elk in the timber but you have to go very slow. You still have to see them before they see you.

    Seems like a perfect set-up...Just move sloooowly and quietly,into the wind, with your eyes PEELED for a deer/Elk...

    Since the deer aren't moving on windy days, it makes sense that you could stalk into the wind and find them bedded down.
    I never hunted deer by stalk hunting in Georgia. There were so many hunters in the woods I was afraid of getting shot.
    Two buddies and I did drive hunting one day. One guy stood at the downwind end of the woods, and the other two walked in from the other side, and did not try to be quiet.
    My buddy who was one of the walkers got a nice doe.
    Still, I decided that type hunting was just too dangerous. Even when I had a lease all to myself on 120 acres, you never knew when a trespasser would be hunting there.

    Two of the three biggest bucks I have shot over the years were on extreme winter days with winds over 25 MPH. Both bucks were bedded down and I stalked up on both.

    I like to hunt that way. I use my compact binos to help me see the deer before they see me (sometimes[:D]). It works really well when there is snow. No snow...no deer, for me, at least. I can't see as well as I did when I was younger. I have gotten within just a few feet of them and shot them in their beds.

    Great days to hunt standing corn. Walk perpindicular(sp) to the rows starting at the most downwind corner. Stick head through, look, step through row, repeat. Once across field, move up 30-40 yards and work back. Deer love to bed in standing corn.
