went to hospital ER room sat night
I know I should have went to my regular Dr. sooner, but I don't go to Dr. any more than I have to,
I have an infection in my foot, sat night it was burning like it was in a camp fire, Was in the hospital 6 hr got an x-ray and blood drawn and saw the Dr. for about 10 min. Sure am glad that I didn't have blood running out of me I would have bled out before I saw a Dr. OUR MEDICAL IN THE USA SUCKS.

Everyone is treated...not just seen....
The "wait" that everyone keeps talking about is for elective surgeries...not surgeries that are needed asap...or right now...
And yes, I live in Florida and love it (except for the horrid hot humid weather in the summer) but I was born in Canada...Immigrated bout 10 years ago now...
Then I stand corrected. I guess I should have used England instead of Canada.[;)]0 -
The only thing I dislike about ER's, Gang bangers with gunshot wounds and knife wounds always seem to go first. Then you find out they have no insurance and are illegals. While your mother is bleeding internally from a previously botched operation. "Yes nurse she is still kicking while waiting"[;)]
I am not picking on ER people that have to put up with this stuff, Just the seriously flawed system.0 -
Triage. That's all I ever knew.

Oh and if anybody hasnt mentioned it yet the wait also compiles due to all the unneeded patients in the ER like drugseekers, attention seekers, homeless wanting a hot and a cot, criminals that have to be medicaly cleared before the jail with accept them, and the uninsured and medicaid patients who come to the ER knowing they have to be seen by a doctor by law insurance or not when they need to be at a doctors office due the illness or injury being nonemergent but the doctors office sometimes asks for a copay of a couple dollars which they arent willing to pay or have been banned for bouncing two dollar checks which the doctors office knows will keep these patients out of their office but into the ER driving up the wait times and healthcare prices for the paying Joes. 0 -

I am a former ER Director of a small inner city General Hospital.
I empathize with your situation Chuck, and am not going to make excuses for the sorry state of many ER's - mine included.
We as part of the general public can do our part to alleviate an overburdened system by seeking alternate methods other than a crowded Emergency Room to treat illnesses other than life and limb threatening conditions.
May I offer as viable alternative the use of Primary Care Physicians and acute care centers? Many of them offer ancillary services, such as labs and X-rays, on extended working hours.
Thanks for the info, am checking on alliterative Monday morning0
