Clever editing...a Michael Moore type job here. I don't believe it. The old lady flashing her gun at the cops is dangerous and a moron. 0 -

I think that the message was true. They cut in a couple of stock footage shots of the police car - very much like news programs do.
The country is being overrun by cowboy cops, looking for an excuse to shoot someone.
Thank God for Police Officers like my friend Doug Cummins and David Nunn.
We are on the edge of the abyss,

"Clever editing" or no, the fact remains: Legal guns were confiscated from law-abiding citizens for NO LEGAL REASON during the aftermath of Katrina. I personally know SWAT team members from our local agency who were in N.O. at the time and verify the action by their (N.O.) local authorities. Why else would the NRA file an injunction to halt it unless it was happening?
The old lady was a moron, you say? Suppose it was your grandmother who was afraid for her life and well-being? And just where in the Second Amendment does it mention a minimum I.Q. in order to be protected from unlawful confiscation of firearms?
You don't believe it, you say? Probably don't believe the USA landed on the moon, that the Sept. 11, 2001 was the work of muslim madmen, or that Elvis is dead, either. [:(]
Believe it or not, Ripley One probably would believe it.0 -

What exactly was she afraid of, with a camera crew and all the cops around, she was probably safe until she pulls her gun.
FWIW...my grandmother would have kicked their butts and made them paint her fence...then given them milk and cookies before sending them home.0 -
Yeah thats probably exactly what she would of done. They really did take peoples firearms by force it did happen, they played the same clip of the old lady being assaulted on CNN or FOX maybe even both. 0 -

NEW ORLEANS ADMITS TO SAF ATTORNEYS THEY HAVE SEIZED GUNS
For Immediate Release: 3/15/2006
BELLEVUE, WA - In a stunning reversal, the City of New Orleans revealed today to attorneys representing the Second Amendment Foundation and National Rifle Association that they do have a stockpile of firearms seized from private citizens in the wake of Hurricane Katrina.
The disclosure came as attorneys for both sides were preparing for a hearing in federal court on a motion filed earlier by SAF and NRA to hold the city in contempt. Plaintiffs' attorneys traveled to a location within the New Orleans city limits where they viewed more than 1,000 firearms that were being stored.
"This is a very significant event," said attorney Dan Holliday, who represents NRA and SAF in an on-going lawsuit seeking to enjoin the city from seizing privately-owned firearms.
"We're almost in disbelief," admitted SAF Founder Alan Gottlieb. "For months, the city has maintained it did not have any guns in its possession that had been taken from people following the hurricane. Now our attorneys have seen the proof that New Orleans was less than honest with the court."
Under an agreement with the court, the hearing on the contempt motion has been continued for two weeks, the attorneys said. During that time, according to Holliday and fellow attorney Stephen Halbrook, the city will establish a process by which the lawful owners of those firearms can recover their guns.
"While we are stunned at this complete reversal on the city's part," Gottlieb said, "the important immediate issue is making sure gun owners get their property back. We're glad that the city is going to move swiftly to make that possible, and naturally we will do whatever is necessary to make this happen.
"What happened in New Orleans after Hurricane Katrina was an outrage," Gottlieb observed. "Equally disturbing is the fact that it apparently took a motion for contempt to force the city to admit what it had been denying for the past five months.
The Second Amendment Foundation (www.saf.org) is the nations oldest and largest tax-exempt education, research, publishing and legal action group focusing on the Constitutional right and heritage to privately own and possess firearms. Founded in 1974, The Foundation has grown to more than 600,000 members and supporters and conducts many programs designed to better inform the public about the consequences of gun control. SAF has previously funded successful firearms-related suits against the cities of Los Angeles; New Haven, CT; and San Francisco on behalf of American gun owners, a lawsuit against the cities suing gun makers and an amicus brief and fund for the Emerson case holding the Second Amendment as an individual right.0 -

The persons depicted in the video--and scores of others--had NOT POINTED WEAPONS at anyone. What did you miss about this issue? As I posted above: "confiscated from law-abiding citizens for NO LEGAL REASON" Pointing a weapon at a LEO would qualify as a "legal reason" to have a gun confiscated--and the person arrested for assault on a police officer with a deadly weapon. These people were not arrested--so apparently they had not "assaulted" anyone with their weapons. Their weapons were simply confiscated. In the case of the little old woman, the only assault came from the "authorities."0 -

Yep - but you see less of that in the West and Southwest. Common sense is more
abundant in this part of the country - or so I've noticed.

You surely see the problem in America...don't you ?
Witness the defenders of jack-booted thugs...witness the people too stupid to have paid the slightest attention when it was going on, and to the law suits...so they can question if it ever happened..0 -

Did not the cops ask her if she had a gun and then to see it? Then tackle her after she complied?

sounds like someone needs to be retraind.
this was run on both Fox and CNN
now this would be alot diffrent if she had taken aim at anyone in the house. but she never raised the gun on anyone.
the old lady was never a threat to any of those officers,. she never pointed the gun at anyone in the house,. all she did was have the pistols cylinder resting in her open palm when she showed the officers,. never once did she grab the pistol or attempt to grab the pistol by the grip.
bottom line,. this old lady was assualted by police. they had no right to enter her home and demand that she leave,.. they had no right to assualt her the way they did,. and they had no right to take away her firearm.
i have said it before and i will say it again,. if that was my Grandmother getting assualted that day,. several people,. including myself would be in rubber bags by nightfall.
there is absolutly no reason for that amount of force to be used.
if the bonehead that tackled her wanted the gun away from her,. he could have just asked. 1000 to 1 she whould have thought nothing of simply handing it to him.
hell,.. i have done that on TCP's (traffic control points) in Baghdad.
if an Iraqi man got out of his car with his gun on his hip and unholsterd it and held it in his hand (not by the pistols grip) to show it to me,. i would take it,. clear it,. inspect it,. and return it when him and his car where cleared to proceed.
i would not tackle the man to the ground and start beating him,. take away his gun or arrest him.
it is cowboys like that officer that keep the hate and distrust towards LEO's going.0 -

New Orleans Deputy Police Chief Warren Riley: "No one will be able to be armed. We're going to take all the weapons."
Buell Teel, victim of gun confiscation: "It's not America as we've known it before, it's changing."
The old lady "flashed" her gun at the cops after they asked if she had a gun. She said yes. They asked to see it. Then she "flashed" an unloaded revolver in her left hand with her hand around the top of the frame, finger nowhere near the trigger. I think the cylinder was open, but not sure about that part.
Anybody who doesn't believe it happened should review Deputy Police Chief Warren Riley's statement.
If it didn't happen, why did they have to give so many guns back? If it didn't happen why are they getting sued by so many people for missing firearms?
Many people think the fact that it happened was a good thing, but to think that it didn't happen is to deny logic and common sense in the face of a mountain of evidence.0 -

When Americans finally get [:(!]angry[:(!] enough about what has ALREADY HAPPENED in this country--to ordinary, law-abiding citizens--we just MIGHT be able to prevent at least SOME of what the liberal, Constitution-defying pols have planned for the future.
