Now I'm still undecided on the caliber...243 or 7mm-08, and then there is the true 308. Or I could just buy two extra barrels in the other two calibers. [:p]

Looking at a Savage Bolt. They offer 223, 243, 7mmm-08, 308 in short action, and 270, 30-06, 300mag in long action.

I want a caliber for varmint, coyote, and paper punching, and if I ever get the chance to hunt medium game with a rifle.

I'm pretty stuck on the 243, but the 7mm-08 and 308 always stick their heads out when I've pretty much made up my mind.

Get the .30-06. I've got one and I highly recommend it to everyone who wants a bolt action rifle.

Iv got a guy wanting to trade me a savage 22-250 mod 10 i belive it looks in good shape and he wants to trade for a 270 or 308 now if I can only find one cheap enough to make a good deal for me [}:)][:D][:D][:D][:D]

I don't think Tori would enjoy shooting it too much. That is also a factor. She shot my M44 Mosin once and handed it back.

Good luck. I hear the Savages are the best value out of the box.

My 12 year old shoots a 7mm/08 with NO problem. Great round! And a 243 will have a LITTLE less recoil than that. Let her give it a go. You might be surprised. There is very little recoil in either.

What are you figuring on doing with the extra barrels?

Since they are all based on the 308 caliber, I could have them changed if I ever changed my mind. Correct?

Remington 270 synthetic stock and a pencil barrel kicks a lot. 7mm Browning with a Boss kicks much less, flatter firing, and reaches out farther, but the coyote isn't pretty. THe flatter shot is nice. My cousin shot at 500 yards and he doesn't understand the 270 doesn't shoot the same. In any case, the coyote is dead, but not pretty. 7mm also costs more per round. 22-250 too small for anything larger than a coyote, but everyone raves about it. Same cousin also has a short barrel lever action Browning in a 22-250. It's about useless without a scope. .243 has a low grain round and a heavy round. I could understand why you would chose this round.

My father in law has a ,243. I have yet to see it, much less shoot it.

Tazzer's Savage is tempting for me to email him, but I am rather fond of the Remington in spite of being to large a round for me.

Best of luck making a decision.

Have you ever shot a 7MM-08. I love the accuracy, punch, and neglible recoil. I really think that they are sweet.
