vasectomy anyone?
was wondering if anybody else has had a vasectomy done? just had mine done this a.m. and so far so good, a little sore but that's to be expected. also how soon were you back on your feet and doing normal stuff, my doc said stay put for 2 days.

It is by far the best thing you could ever do for the one you love.
It is easy and relative painless.
My wife was very supportive and very appreciative.
The best part is sex anywhere anytime no fuss no planning.

Had it done nearly 31 years ago, following the birth of our son. Only problem I had was when the doctor reached down, grabbed the cord on one side, turned to the nurse and said "hold this for me!" Not really, but it really felt that way. No problems with recovery. 0 -
Men who have bad experiences with their vasectomies are very rare.
I had mine done about 19 years ago, when it looked like Travis was healthy and going to hang out for a while. I was going to wait for him to turn a year old, but I injured my thumb and had to take off work for several days. I figured, why not do it now?
Called the doc, set the appointment for 0700 at his office. He wanted to do it early so he could give me his undivided attention before his work day actually started. It was me, the doc, and a nurse. Good drugs, never felt a thing. No, I did feel, but I didn't feel PAIN. It was weird, because I could feel pressure, and pulling and cutting, but it didn't hurt.
I had no swelling. I laid up on the sofa with an ice pack and used it. I stayed off work about 3 weeks, not so much for the vasectomy, but because of my thumb.
The only trouble I had was one of the incisions was slow to heal. About two weeks post-surgery we went to Six Flags, and that incision got exposed to heat and perspiration. It got a little red and puffy, and a little sore, but responded well to topical antibiotics.
I have no regrets. I was 35 years old, with two sons, and two was enough.
Having the operation means we don't have to worry about the patter of little feet, and we don't have to use any sort of artificial contraceptive devices or drugs. Failures have happened with vasectomies, but the failure rate is very small. We figure if we become a statistic, we will deal with it as the will of God.0 -

Had a good friend get one 10 years ago, he got an infection from it, both balls swoll up to the size of coconuts for 3-4 months. Thought at one point he would have to use a wheelbarrow to move his nuts.
I will never consider it after watching the agony he went thru, I'm 51, married 25 years,2 kids grown, I must be a real baby.
Timing is everything in my world.

I had the "pleasure" of having my MD brother in law perform the procedure and we spent most of the time talking about golf. My wife then drove me home. In my own case my first wife could not have children so the entire birth control issue was never even a consideration. When I married Mrs K she was already proven with the two grils and suddenly the entire matter of birth control needed to be examined and the vasectomey was the quick, easy and (relatively) painless solution. While there is no such thing as a 100% safe medical procedure and there are horror stories out there about vasectomy cases (we heard a few here) the risks are few and the benefits far out weigh those risks. If you are sitting on the fence about the procdure I would suggest having it performed. 0 -

My wife said it was the best ten bucks she ever spent. (good insurance) Fozen peas is a good idea. The important thing is to stay out of bedroom action for four or five days. I climbed back in the saddle less than 24 hours later and really prolonged the pain. I did go back to work (very physical labor installing rear axles on new semi trucks) three days later. Thank God for good co-workers that carried the load for a week. 0
