What county is Dallas in?

Other than Ft. Worth, what other decent sized communities are located within 30 miles of the metro Dallas area?

What counties surround the Dallas area?

    SP - Take a look at the Google maps. The DFW Metroplex has almost as many suburban communities as LA has.

    Dallas is in Dallas County. Ain't that handy?

    Surrounding counties are Tarrant, Collin, Denton, Rockwall, Ellis, and Kaufman.

    SP- A real nice little suburb area between FT. Worth and Dallas is the H-E-B area or Hurst Euless Bedford area. I now live in FT. Worth but I stayed in Bedford (corporate housing provided by my company for a few months) and I work in Hurst.

    Arlington is another fairly large suburb of Dallas as well.
    The dfw area has a fairly small but very efficient light rail system you may want to check out to live farther from the city. If you're moving to the area or coming to visit I'd love to sit down and have a drink with you.

    Lots of folks are moving to the west/NW toward Grapevine, Colleyville, Roanoke, Trophy Club, etc. The whole metroplex is really growing. Places i hunted 30 years ago have huge subdivisions on them now....

    May be moving sometime after 5/08. Still very much up in the air. Web maps didn't show counties just cities and I was searching for something county-wide in the Dallas area which is one of the possible relocation sites.

    At this point it's just a nightmare on the horizon.

    I live in Grapevine and work in Fort Worth...hey Dave where you working at in Hurst??? Hope your ready for summer and enjoying all the rain now cause she's gonna be a warm one this year.

    FYI-Land and home prices to the north and northeast of Dallas (Denton, Collin, Rockwall counties) have gone through the roof the past several years. Each year there are cities located in these areas that make the "fastest growing US communities" list.

    DFW? Hope you get a concealed carry and drive something old with real big honkn' bumpers. Last years numbers showed only Houston with a higher crime rate supposedly due to the Katrina criminals running loose.

    hahah west texas...I grew up in Odessa....I'll take DFW any day...at least I can fish at will.

    Be mindful of property taxes in all the towns and burb's surrounding TX cities. They can be quite steep. My mother is in East TX with just under 50 acres, her property taxes are less than $1k/year. My place is a small lot in a subdivision -- property taxes for next year are estimated at $6k.

    I'm between Lewisville and Denton. It's nice but getting even more crowded -- and an equally long drive to either downtown Dallas or downtown Fort Worth. [:o)]
