I still remember what the democrats were ranting and raving.
"He will get us in a war, He is a cowboy.
Damn right he\was. It is a shame, to end up not knowing
your own name. President Reagan is not only a great American.
I think he was the greatest President.

I hated Reagan when he was in office, and for a long time thereafter.

When he became ill, I heard of a piece of bathroom graffiti:

    "If Reagan remembers anything,
    he remembers he lied."

I recognized it then, and I recognize it now: it is in very poor taste. But I still think it's kind of funny.

Then we had Bush Sr. Then Clinton--whose politics are more aligned with mine than anybody else mentioned in this post--but who didn't accomplish much. And then GW.

And what do you know? Today, I'm thinking Reagan was better than any of the turds who have followed him to date. I disagree with so many of Reagan's tenets, but at least when he claimed to be a fiscal conservative, he walked the walk! If anything, I'm a fiscally conservative left-winger (can you get your head around that? It's hard for me, too). So to me, Reagan had it half-right. Bush Sr. was like vanilla pudding, Clinton was a deep disappointment and GW just disgusts me.

I wouldn't mind seeing statues to Reagan popping up over Eastern Europe. The fall of communism in Asia (and bad jokes when he didn't realize that the microphone was open) are his legacy, and they--well at least the fall of communism part--represent a substantial accomplishment.

well everyone has thier own thoughts about him, just like clinton.
thats why we can say what we want. just try that in south American, even in ?Russian, we are the freedom that everyone writes about.
as much as I can disagree with you, we both have that right.

I'm not sure what you're disagreeing with. I think I just said I thought he was the best president we've had since 1980. (And before then, I was too young to know or care).

Why is it that a city in Poland and not America is thinking (or trying) to get a statue errected of what I beleive to have been one of our better presidents in the last 50 years? Seems we should be the ones to be doing this. Reagan had his faults, but as has been said before he "walked the walk".

What evidence do you have that no American cities have/are proposing Reagan statues?

Why the need to build monuments to men? They should be remembered for deeds and not what the pigeons roost on. Don

I'd rather see him on a United States coin.

Id rather see a new president step in with Reagans way of running the country.
I got to meet him when I was 12 in Orlando. What an experience it was to be able to shake the hand of one of the greatest Presidents in the USA.

I suspect any realistic statue of Reagan would have him napping on a desk.

...History almost always remembers/treats presidents much kinder than while they were in office...a live person makes a much better target than a dead one...[;)]

True, but dead ones don't run away. [}:)]
