The base screw or the clamp screw? the most common base screw is 6-48.

I replaced a clamp screw on a see-thru mount once, and I don't remember if it was 6-32 or 8-32.

6-48 is most common, 8-40 would be second.

Most clamp screws are 6X40. Some base screws are 6X48 while others are 8X40.
