Trigger mount for flashlights
I have a Kimber Pro Carry 2, no light mount rails on it, I am looking for a trigger mounting system for it so I can mount a small flashlight on the trigger gaurd. Anyone have any info?

Ya know I've had flashlight training with a handgun. The idea of a flashlight mounted is cool looking and all, but its rambo syndrome. In reality, you want to hold the flashlight in your weak hand, and train yourself to move your weak hand, and strong hand in unison. Think about it, if your a bad guy, and you know the good guy is after you, (be he a jackboot ((cop)) or Citizen) and you see a flashlight coming at you in the night, are you going to shoot in the general direction of the flashlight taking into account the fact that on the T.V. movies, and all you see someone with a flashlight mounted on a firearm. In flashlight with handgun training we were taught to extend our weak arm ( the one that held the flashlight) at full length for just this reason. IF the bad guy sees your light, and shoots, there is a better chance of him missing you, and reveiling his hiding place. Of course this is supposed to be an "LEO" (jackboot) only known tactic, so you'll not get many that have recived it to admit to it. 0 -

JWOLF, if you could use that setup in the picture i would highly recommend the surefire setup,i have the X200 mounted on a AR-15 and its very lightweight takes two 3 volt lithium batts,and is very bright surefire is a top notch co.and will back up thier warranty claims 100%,LOKO[;)]0 -

although i disagree with it, i have heard this before. there was an extensive article in IIRC guna and ammo a while back about some of the diff techniques here. ayoob had a part in the article.
that technique would be useless if you need your other hand, as in a k-9 officer or you dialing the cell phone etc0 -

That technique is about 20 years old, at least. They didn't even have gun mounted lights back then. Bad guys know all this stuff and holding your light out will not fool anyone, they just aim to the left of it as most people are right handed. In fact that old way opens up your side and armpit to direct fire, which is a real good way to get shot sideways through both lungs and heart. The gun mounted light is the most effective way to light your target, as it is automatically pointed wherever the gun is pointed. And it leaves your off hand free to open a door or fend off an attacker or use the phone to call 911, etc.0 -

The actual production cost for one would make you vomit. They could very well offer them for 1/4th the current market price and still make a healthy profit through volume sales. They already know that their high dollar sales will be short lived and have to strike while the market is young and hot. There's just too much competition from overseas manufactures. no offense HOBBYGUY,OR HEDOG, but you would have a long swim to get your light fixed in CHINA,another surefire light i have was fixed with 60.00 worth of parts for FREE and i won it at a NRA supper,and i might add i had used it for three yrs prior to that,will the chinese stand tall to that i doubt it.and my x200 only cost me 125.00 used shop around thats the way i learned.0 -

Ok I got 1 response then the string got hijacked by folks arguing about "Tactics" I didn't ask opinions on tactics, I asked only if wnyone knew where I could get a trigger mount light system for a 1911, the surefire set up looks ok but they are very expensive. 0 -

Use the momentary switch to identify target then turn off and shoot.

I've also worked in SWAT for over half my career and rarely was the technique you described used. Most of our weapons had attached lighting. Ok since its obvious you don't know squat, I'll take the time and spell it out for you a little bit slower, "boy". The D.O.C stands for the Department of Corrections. Each institution has its own S.R.T. which stands for Special Response Team. When I went in the D.O.C. and first joined the S.R.T, it was called E-Squad which stood for emergency squad, after 1 year on the squad, the state changed its name to the S.R.T. Now with a governor of a different political party, and with a new D.O.C. commisonar the name of the state institutions S.R.T (which is still a member of the D.O.C) is now called C.E.R.T, which stands for Corrections Emergency Response Team. Every state has this in the D.O.C. In some places its referred to as different things. For instance in NY its called E.R.U. which stands for Emergency Response Unit. Hope that helps you to understand things just a little better "boy", if not then let me put it like this, I was a corrections officer in the state D.O.C, and was a member of the institutions S.R.T.
