Local rabble rouser talk show host inter5viewed a scientist involved with nukes...currently.

Says that the old Soviet Bloc 'GunType' suitcaSE nukes looked identical to what was on '24'...that while it is true the trigger devices on the old weapons had only a 135 days shelf life...there existed today much improved, simpler detonators...that cane be retrofitted to the old nukes. He went into detail over the exact composition of the old triggers...all declassified...because everything is obsolete...save for the plutonium.

He says they are here in the U.S....and WILL be detonated one of these days by those that hate the guts of every freedom loving person on the face of the earth...
One can bury ones head firmly between ones' cheeks....or lay back a bit of "save my ass' provisions....sorta like an insurance policy.

Yep I was shocked that CTU didn't get there to diffuse it in time. I was still in shock over Jack shooting Curtis. Didn't see that coming.

...yeah, I'm sure they were ALL de-milled (or whatever)...surely the government would never lie to us.

I would imagine by now, we have some very small nukes...and who knows who else?

The Libs this week started yelling that "24" is a propaganda tool for the Bush adminstration...because the show portrays "terrorism" as a "reality"...which all of us no is NOT the case...[;)]

Thanks for the post Bullz. It's been a few years since I researched them. It's nice to know I wasn't too far off. [:I]

No prob. I've had a minor fascination with the US nuclear weapons program since I did a report on the Minuteman ICBM in high school.

The top of the line ballistic missile technology developed by the start of the SALT treaties is incredible. The SS-18 "Satan" the Soviets used could fit into a special boxcar and be hidden and fired from any lonely rail siding in the whole of Russia. It packed 8 separate warheads of 1-megaton size, or one singular massive one of 25-megaton size. And they had about 400-500 of them pre-packaged, ready to scatter out into the tundra when the alert was given.

    Scary stuff. Seriously.
