I'm Legal (I think)
Went in to Wal-Mart yesterday. Paid $11 and I'm legal to hunt deer in our pasture behind our house. for the upcoming CWD shotgun season in January.
I find it strange to be able to walk in, pay $11 and walk out with deer tags. I always thought it was more complicated than that.

You have to pay to kill sick deer on your own land? 0 -
A farmer friend of mine in Eastern NC once told me that anytime he wanted venison he could just shoot the deer on his farm. He then dragged it over to the corn crib, called the Game Warden and told him that he finally got the deer that was stealing corn. 0 -

Yeah, wildlife has been nationalized in Illinois. They are the property of the state. Maybe I should call the Sheriff to arrest them for trespassing
Apparently only anterless deer get CWD in LaSalle county. The cure is a three day hunting season in January where you can shoot all you can with a shotgun, blackpowder rifle or a pistol with a shell smaller than 1.25 inches.0 -
In Virginia (and some other states) you don't need a license to hunt your own land. You have to obey all the fish and game laws and regulations, but don't have to buy the tags.
You should look at the Illinois hunting regulations. You might get to save the $11.00 next year.0 -
I don't have to buy the hunting license, but I did have to buy the habitat stamp, which isn't a stamp anyone in the electronic age. It used to be an actual stamp that went on the hunting/fishing license for fur bearing hunting. Now it's more of an additional tax. Plus I had to buy the "deer tag".
Deer season regulations are complicated in Illinois. We need lawyers to guide is through the legal issues of hunting in Illinois. Plus, any people here knowledgable about Illinois hunting rules can correct me. I am not the smartest guy on this subject but Illinois rules seem to be needlessly complicated.0 -
Here in Va. I dont have to have any type license or tags to hunt any game on my own property. Over where we have our cabin there is nothing else around for nearly a mile and I own 66 acres to hunt on. 0 -
Here in Maine I don't have to leave the computer to get a license, permit, tags, or apply for any of the special hunting lotteries. [:p][}:)] 0
