    That wasn't a shoot down. The Hornet jettisoned a fuel tank or ordnance that dropped back and hit the other plane.

    Sounds like someone added the audio later.

    The in-flight recorders don't have music in the background ?

    That is spooky, but, if you watch, the plane is engulfed in flames for around 70% of its trip down. I can only hope that the crew got out safely.

    As one of the people on the comment page for the vid pointed out, that's from one of the early test flights with the F/A-18.

    The A-4 Skyhawk is in extra close test-escort position, and the plane taking the video is off to one side.

    Those drop tanks jettison automatically when they're empty to save on drag. Looks like somebody forgot to think about how close the A-4 was.
